This studio is a marvel in design, equipped with space-saving pieces and carefully chosen furnishings. Located in the Mouffetard area, the apartment is on the ground floor of a 3 story building with a lovely interior courtyard, embellished with plants, a pleasant sight to look upon from your apartment. The very pathway outside of the building has been immortalized by the famous Parisian photographer, Eugène Atget. A digicode system provides entry to the building itself.
You will have it all in this former convent building dating from the 17th century! In the 1800s, it was converted to an artisan workspace and now houses apartments. Combining modern design elements with vintage furnishings from the '50s, the studio really stands out as an original! Downstairs you have the living area with a loveseat and small dining table that can fold out to provide extra space. The kitchenette can be hidden away behind a door that swings out from the wall, and is equipped with two electric burners and a small sink, as well as a microwave and coffee maker. Shelves provide an open space to put the dishware, and the bathroom and a closet hide behind sliding doors. Around the corner you have the stairs, which also function as shelving and even has a pull out desk to make a workspace! Upstairs is the lofted bed, which is open to the living area below; it is a double size mattress with shelving built into the wall.
A personalized list of recommended restaurants in the area, as well as the best shops for pastries, baguettes and other treats, will be provided by the owner. There is also a general guide to the 5th arrondisssement in the studio, so you will be living like a local in no time!
This studio is found in the part of Paris known as Mouffetard, not far from the street that it gets its name from (about 600 meters or .35 miles). This street is frequented by both Parisians and tourists due to its extremely popular market for fresh vegetables and produce, as well as the many cafes and artisan shops that line it. Check out the Place Saint Médard, a picturesque place to relax in the sun in front of a fountain. For real nature lovers, discover Jardin des Plantes, Paris' huge botanic gardens, and the Jardin du Luxembourg, where the French Senate makes its home -- the apartment is situated just between these two landmarks. Also in the area is the popular student district of the Latin Quarter and the Panthéon. For day-to-day needs, you can go to either Franprix or the Carrefour Market, both supermarkets are open til 10pm.
As far as public transit, this studio puts you right off line 7 for the metro, which you can pick up at either the Les Gobelins or the Censier Daubenton stations, both about 450 meters or a quarter of a mile away. This runs direct to Bastille and le Marais district, as well as the Louvre. There are also many buses nearby: line 91 will take you to three main train station (Montparnasse, Austerlitz and Lyon), line 21 goes to Saint Michel and Opéra areas, and line 83 would take you to the hip Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood.
