In the region of Provence in the South of France, there is a charming little town known for its art and history named Arles. Between Montpellier and Marseille on the Rhône River, you will find on the Second floor (third floor for American standards) of a private mansion, a fully furnished three bedroom loft. The private mansion is listed in the 'Bâtiment de France' named L'Hôtel de Truchet. At the cross of rue Truchet and rue de l’Hoste.
The three bedroom apartment has a wall to wall tiled floor; all the walls are painted white except for one accent wall that has an off-white brick theme wallpaper to go with the artistic and middle-age theme of the rest of the apartment. Indeed the loft was renovated to keep its original architecture while still adding a modern touch. Moreover, the kitchen windows have a view on the 'Eglise des Dominicains'. The white walls and white furniture put forward the accent of art throughout the apartment. The bedroom has a double bed; the bathroom has a bathtub so you can enjoy a nice bubble bath after visiting the historic town. You will also find a mezzanine overlooking the living area where you will be able to relax on the couch and read a book from the library. The three bedroom apartment is also equipped with a washer, a dryer and a dishwasher.
In the 1800s, Vincent Van Gogh settled in the little town of Arles at the 30 rue de la Cavalerie (550m/0.3mi). He had his studio in the Yellow House (700m/0.4mi) which inspired one of his oil paintings. Nearby the apartment there is also a festival of photography that occurs every summer called Les rencontres d’Arles (110m/0.1mi). There is also another festival of photography named Voies off (350m/0.2mi). You will find a few museums as well such as the Réattu Museum. However the real art is found in the streets and the architecture surrounding the apartment. Indeed, the loft is ideally located in the historic center. Walk along the quay of the Rhône River, get a croissant and a pain au chocolat at the boulangerie au Fournil de la Roquette (650m/0.4mi), have dinner underneath the vaults in a cloister at Jardin des Arts (350m/0.2mi). Walk until you find the Arena (500m/0.3mi). Arles is a small town but its charm is worth seeing!
