Enjoy sleeping in a classic brownstone townhouse, which shares the same architecture as shown in so many movies and television shows, with this two bedroom apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York! Located on Bainbridge Street & Howard Avenue, it sits on the top floor of a  two-story (considered 1-story in Europe) walk-up 19th century brownstone townhouse

Please Note: This fully furnished apartment can be rented either room by room, as a bed & breakfast or monthly roommate share accommodation; OR in its entirety as a private apartment to a single group, either for a short vacation or a longer sublet.

Overall, this apartment in Bedford Stuyvesant has an antique-inspired design to it, boasting hardwood floorshigh ceilings, and a skylight. The unique layout of the home makes each room different; Bedroom 1 offers a twin bed and is located off of the kitchen, with a view of the backyard area. Bedroom 2 includes a queen-sized bed and is off of the main living room in the front of the house, overlooking the street. There is also a sleeping alcove (living room 2), which has no windows, and is situated between the dining room and the master bedroom. It features a queen-sized bed and a double-doored closet. The kitchen is equipped with essential cooking appliances, so tenants can easily create their favorite homemade dishes. Don't forget to enjoy the jacuzzi-style bathtub whenever you want to relax a little!

Situated in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn (near Crown Heights), the apartment is surrounded by many shops and restaurants that can be reached on the two main streets of this neighborhood:  Fulton Street (0.3mi/450m) and Broadway (0.5mi/850m). Even more convenient, just down the street from the two bedroom home (0.1mi/180m) tenants will have access to the local grocery shops and delis of Ralph Avenue. There are many parks nearby such as Saratoga Park (0.2mi/290m), a pleasant green space in which to relax, run, picnic, read, and more! Looking for something more intellectually stimulating? Tenants will have the opportunity to visit nearby museums including the Brooklyn Children's Museum (1.6mi/2.6km) and the Brooklyn Museum (3mi/4.8km), both of which are easily reachable  on the C train (note: to reach the Brooklyn Museum, transfer to the 3 train at Atlantic Ave-Barclays Ctr). Of course, you can't live in Brooklyn without soaking in sun at Prospect Park (3.2mi/5.2km), the biggest and most famous green space of the borough, featuring its very own zoo. 

To travel around New York City, take the C train at Ralph Avenue / Fulton Street (0.4mi/600m) or the J train at Halsey Street / Broadway (0.5mi/800m). The C train will take you to Manhattan in 10 stops; the J train will take you there in 8 stops.

The apartment's pictures don't do justice to it at all: they are much nicer than the apartment itself. The place is old and not very clean. There was insect repellent powder in different places and the owner came in the stairwell every morning to kill insects with a spray (which is not very healthy). It needs a thorough cleaning from top to bottom and everyday products (kitchen, bathroom, bedding, etc) should really be put away. We were really discouraged when we arrived in this apartment and felt trapped in it during vacation time. The owner was nice (he only asked us a 200$ deposit instead of the said 500$) but he didn't seem to wait for us when we arrived whereas we called him the previous day to inform him that we would be there between 5 and 6 pm (we arrived at 5.45 pm). Location was perfect (subway, food markets) but other than that, it was clearly below the common standards of comfort and cleanliness.

This house was built in 1848 and I try to preserve the décor to reflect the grandeur of those times. I had just had the living room furniture reupholstered and did the floors just before your arrival. You could not saw a single cockroach as the exterminator had been there the same day you had arrived, and there were no roaches before the exterminator came. I keep my home vermin free and I did not spray or kill insects in the hallway every morning. There are none there.

I had waited on your parties arrival and had waited for you until five minutes before you arrived. When I returned from my store you party was entering my gate. I double parked and introduced myself before parking my car and showing you around.

You seemed happy with all the amenities an the extra ones of which you spoke. I have a room divider with 3 extra matching new comforter sets and linen for each room of the apartment. There are stacks of towels and face cloths fresh from the laundry put there daily. It is a convenience in case there are spills or need of change in the night, and guest could help themselves. I intended for guest to know that I prepared for everything.

I am going to make some adjustments regarding the cleanliness.

The pros: spacious apartment, close to subway station. We slept well.

The cons: - worn out apartment (undoubtedly clean, but we had difficulty in estimating its cleanliness because it was so old) in which we did not want to stay (even to cook in the evening...) ; - the neighborhood is not very appropriate for tourists: it is a working-class area (which is not an issue), but there is no restaurant or even a store to do grocery shopping (there are some grocery stores but it is not exactly great...) ; - the owner is not very welcoming (he hardly said hello), but he was somehow nice (he did not ask for a deposit, which suited us because he was not there when we left and we could not reach him: so we left him a message to tell him where we hid the keys ; in the apartment, many things were freely accessible: bathroom and kitchen products, etc). Personally, we would have rather liked to pay a more expensive rent and be in a more dynamic neighborhood and a more welcoming accommodation. It may be a good idea to recommend another area of Brooklyn for tourists.

Hi Florence, I read your review and was somewhat dismayed that you were not pleased. I was impressed with your family right away so I didn't ask for the deposit that had been prearranged and agreed to, because i noticed the respect shown each other and family relationship. I felt comfortable right away. I thought the welcoming basket of fruit, snacks, and sodas and fresh flowers would have helped to make you feel welcome. I stocked the kitchen and bathroom with all one would imagine for convenience. My last brother was in Rhode Island hospital about to pass away so I rushed to get you settled in and went to catch the amtrak to Rhode Island. I was traveling there every other day and spending the night in the hospital with him. My house was built in 1848 and I try to keep the mirrored mantle place, chandeliers, hardwood floors to match the furniture and decor of that time. I beg of you to accept my apologies for not being more involved and friendly. I saw your Husband passing when my red antique 1974 eldorado convertible Cadi was burning but could only wave at him as I was fighting the fire. Please offer my apology to him.
