Across from the sofa bed you have a decorative fireplace, adding to the historic charm of the building. The bathroom is tucked away next to a closet; here you will find a stall shower and a sink with counter space that covers a washing machine unit. The surrounding neighborhood of Le Marais is one of the oldest in Paris. Known for its lively culture and shopping and dining options, there are endless possibilities in this section of the 4th arrondissement. A few blocks down the street on Rue de Rivoli will bring you to Hôtel de Ville, the offices of the Mayor of Paris. A straight walk from Hôtel de Ville will bring you to Île de la Cité where you will find Cathédral de Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle. Not far from here to the west is the quaint island of Île Saint Louis which is know for its many crêpe restaurants as well as the famous Berthillon ice cream shop.
Just around the corner from the apartment on Rue des Rosiers is another famous eating establishment: L’As du Falafel which claims to have not only the best falafels in Paris but in the world. On this street there are also some great vintage stores which are definitely worth a visit. Down the street towards Saint-Paul is a large Monoprix grocery store for all your shopping needs. While you are in this area pay a visit to Place des Vosges where you can find the house where Victor Hugo once lived in, as well as many other famous Parisians (Sully, Cardinal Richelieu, etc.). Northwest of the studio is the Centre Geroge Pompidou, which is not only a great modern art museum that constantly has new exhibits, but also an enormous library which is perfect for studying or research if needed.
To access the rest of Paris there are various options for transportation nearby. The closest metro station is Hôtel de Ville, which services the 1 and 11 line. (The 1 line runs the entire length of Paris west to east). One stop westbound on line 1 will bring you to Châtelet-Les Halles station, a central hub for all train-based travel. Here you can access line 1, 4, 7, 11, and 14 as well as RER A, B and D. (RER B is a convenient way to access both Charles DeGaulle International Airport and Orly International Airport).
