1 Bedroom Vacation Rental in Saint-Germain des Prés (PA-2301)
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, 1 Half Bathroom - Sleeps 3

From world-class shopping, great art gallery scene and some of the finest restaurants in the world, to the vast green spaces and cozy cafes of the Jardin du Luxembourg, the 6th arrondissement has it all! From this one bedroom vacation rental located at Rue d'Assas and Rue de Fleurus, many famous Paris attractions will be a short walk away and you will be only a few steps away from the luxembourg Gardens! The apartment lies on the third floor (4th for Americans) of a building with coded system, intercom and an elevator. Please note: the elevator is small, with room for one person and one piece of luggage per trip.

Lined with parquet floors and equipped with double glazed windows overlooking the street, this accommodation is simply furnished, but has all the essentials to make your stay in Paris comfortable. The living room features a dining table, two sofas of which one is a futon sofa bed, a stereo and a TV with international cable channels. The kitchen is equipped with electric hotplates (no oven), a microwave and a folding table. A washer can be found in the bathroom and wireless Internet is available.

The main advantage of this apartment is its location. It puts you right in the heart of the city, close to everything, making it the perfect location for vacationers!  Here are some of the numerous places of interest that you will find in the area:

  • Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens): located only 170m (.1 mile) away, it is probably the most popular park in Paris, where locals and tourists go to relax. Simply grab one of the many chairs, take it where you want to sit and admire the beauty the Palace that the park hosts and its surrounding beautiful gardens!
  • The Pantheon: cross the park to get to this historic monument, which is the last resting place of famous French personalities, such as Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Jean Moulin, Emile Zola, Victor Hugo and more!
  • The Latin Quarter and Saint Michel : walk-up Boulevard St. Michel (900m / about 1 mile) until you reach the quays of the river Seine and you will pass many cafes, bookstores as well as the reknown Sorbonne University.
  • Saint-germain Des Pres : bordering St. Michel to the west, it is one of Paris most upscale neighborhoods, filled with designer boutiques, as well as an artistic hub, with some of the city's most prestigious art galleries and museums, such as the Musee d Orsay (1.6 km / 1mile).

Another great perk of this apartment is its easy access to public transporation:

  1. Notre-Dame-des-Champs station: it is served by line 12 of the Paris Metro.
  2. Saint-Placide : served by line 4 that runs north-south through Paris 1st arrondissement.
  3. Gare Montparnasse: walk 800m (.5 miles) to this train station and you will find 2 other subway lines as well as the TGV (French high speed train) connecting Paris and other cities in western France!

This is overall a lovely little place - two rooms and kichen- in a simply wonderful area. Good value for money, very welcoming host. The apartment itself has some charming touches (beautiful sun blocking curtains)! Two of us were very comfortable. (With repesct to other reviews yes: the futon bed is eccentric, but i found an angle to sleep on it very comfortably.). There is noise from a bar on Saturday, but I find it hard to fault with well played saxophone and laughter. A neighbour shut it down quite firmly at about1:00 a.m. With the excellent windows shut, in any event, the sound never prevented sleeping. The location is great: on a practical level: near supermarchés on Rue Vaugirard and rue Jean de Bart; excellent bakeries on Rue d'Assas and Rue Vaugirad. The place is a great base for getting anywhere. We walked everywhere to the major museums ans things we wanted to see. So near the glorious Luxembourg gardens. Also a jolly little cafe/basic food/ ice cream place across the road. As is a nice, good quality, and welcoming restaurant.

I can highly recommend this accommodation. The location is fantastic. A nice area extremely close to Luxembourg Gardens. The owner was very nice and very helpful. She was there to meet us on our arrival and happy to answer any questions. The apartment is a good size for a Paris apartment. Two separate rooms (one bedroom and separate living room) and a small separate kitchen. It has everything you need to cook at home and some basic provisions were in the cupboards. Lots of fresh towels were provided. There is a washing machine in the apartment and next to the building is a laundromat where you can put your clothes in the dryer. This was very convenient. The fresh produce markets (held only on a few days a week) are a couple of blocks away and have wonderful cheese, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and fish and other delicacies on offer. There are great restaurants nearby and also good shopping.

Very cool little place in a great location. I usually have stayed in the 1ere arrondisment during prior visits to Paris but this is a great quarter. There are many shops and cafes all within a quite close walk for pretty much anything you need. Hit the Monop' or the 7/20 for things in the refrigerator and save yourself some money. I enjoyed myself immensely and it was nice to meet the owner who was very cordial and helpful especially given that it was a last-minute rental. It's especially great if you are a runner/jogger - make sure you hit the Jardins de Luxembourg for a simply stunning place to run. A lap around this inside perimeter is about 2k and there are lots of other runners; it's a great place to walk and or relax as well. I am sure that I will choose this same place if I come back.

The apartment is in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk from Luxembourg garden and close to the shops and bustle of Rue de Rennes and St Placide area, the designer shops of Rue Cherche Midi and the lovely department store Le Bon Marché. It is also well located for travel by bus and metro. The apartment is compact but has a separate bathroom, toilet, bedroom, kitchen and sitting room. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The decoration was little bland and would benefit from updating but that did not detract from our stay. Good stong wifi. The apartment is situated on the second floor of a traditional old building and has a small lift which was useful for getting suitcases up to the apartment. Though we generally used the stairs the lift is also an option for one person. We booked this apartment in a last minute change to our travel plans and though we didn't meet the owner, she was very kind and went out of her way to accommodate us. We enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay in this apartment again.

Wonderful compact apartment which is in the heart of Paris. The landlady did everything to make our stay in Paris a perfect experience.

This apartment is two blocks from the Luxemburg Garden which is the most beautiful park in Paris. Close to the metro which permits easy access to all parts of Paris.

We had a great time.

The apartment experience was fantastic. I saved money, and more importantly lived like a Parisian for four days. It was important to me to show my teenage sons a more realistic side of life in Paris, and I did that.

The apartment was in a perfect location, nearby blvd San Germain. Three metro stations very close by. The apartment itself was similar to a one bedroom flat in NYC....small one bedroom, one sitting room, a small kitchen, and a small bathroom. a futon was in the sitting room where my boys slept comfortably. My king bed in the master was very comfortable.

There are no frills in this is not fancily decorated, just the basics. Everything works. Great place. I think that to a future renter its all about managing expectations....this is an urban flat, not a frilly hotel.

In that sense, it is fantastic and as I said earlier, economical. four nights in the heart of Paris for $155 per night!

We are a family of three (mum, dad, 13yr old) and chose the apartment because of its location (close to Saint-Germain des Pres / Luxembourg Gardens) and its price was very good.

The very friendly apartment owner was there to meet us and explained how things worked in the apartment and some details about the area. A reasonably priced and good restaurant on the corner, the boulangerie close by, a large supermarket within walking distance, public transport, buses, metro etc all within walking distance) all very good.

The apartment itself is basic, small and cozy, not a lot of room, but enough to relax in different rooms; make a meal or a cup of tea/coffee. It had everything we needed for our 4-night stay. The shower in the small bath works well, there is a separate toilet.

The lift going up to the 3rd floor (I think) is really tiny, but enough for luggage or a person however the stairs are easy to negotiate so for us this was never a problem and we were aware of this from their details on the website. The only criticism I have is that the beds aren¹t very comfortable the mattresses are more like futons, even in the main bedroom.

I think for older folk this might be a problem as the bed is low and hard. The futon/pull out bed in the living room is not terribly user friendly and so we had to fight with it each evening and morning which caused much hilarity. I think if the owner were to make that small investment into a decent height and comfortable bed and an easier pullout bed in the lounge this property would get a 5/5* review from me and would make a more enjoyable stay.

We thank you for our stay, Paris is certainly beautiful in the spring time.

Thank you for your detailed review Margaret. It is great that you enjoyed all the good things that the apartment offers, as the location and its equipments.

We updated our description in order to better reflect the fact that the living room sofa bed is a futon-like.

Even though it's not a fancy apartment almost everything about the apartment is a 5. The location is excellent, it is very quiet and comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped.

We could have used an additional blanket for the bed in the living room.

The owner was very accommodating and informative. She met us promptly at the scheduled time. She told us about restaurants in the area, metro connections(metro was five minute walk, RER B was twenty minute walk), and all things we might require.

The apartment was very clean. Cutlery and utinsels were more than adequate for 2 occupants. Every apartment could always be larger but this is Paris! We did not feel crowded at all.

It was a very good experience and we will attempt to rent here on our next visit to Paris.

Building is advertised as having a lift . I believe this to be false advertising as lift is actually only a one person lift or suitable for 1 case or 1 bag at a time . Our selection of apartment was partially based on it having a lift . One of our party became ill and had to be transported to hospital via ambulance . The lift was not able to be used to move ill person out of building by ambulance staff causing a delay in treatment .

Apartment owner demanded we fully clean the apartment including bathroom lounge etc prior to departure before we could get bond back . No where in the lease agreement was a cleaning requirement stipulated . We checked the lease and it said "apartment is to be left in clean and sound order ". We believed it was in this condition prior to our departure but had not hired a cleaning service or cleaned it ourselves as nowhere did our contract say this .

The owner exhorted 40 euro cleaning fee from us on top of money we had already paid . It was before our imminent departure to airport and we had no time to clean . Also my husband who was ill , as mentioned above, had to be left in a Paris Hospital to recover and eventually left Paris 2 weeks after us . Stress of having to leave him added to our distress and we basically paid the cleaning fee under duress.

Also on arrival my husband overpaid landlady 13 euro as she had no change .He was never refunded these funds .

The owner and us are really sorry about this situation related to the elevator and added this in the description of the apartment to better convey its minimal size. The guests didn't have the time to clean the apartment before leaving because of their imminent flight, this is why the owner exceptionally charged a cleaning fee.

The Paris vacation rental apartment was well located near the Luxembourg Gardens. As it was not expensive, I was not expecting too much. It was basic but clean and well equipped. I thought that it was over the top to ask the renter to clean it on leaving. This was awkward for us as our plane left Paris at 7am so we had a very early wake up.

The owner was also not good about answering emails. I was looking for a confirmation of our arrival time and never did hear from her.

The work of your agency was exemplary and I have recommended you many times. Good luck in the future.

The apartment and the owner were absolutely great. As promised, the location [in Paris St Michel] was ideal and every convenience necessary for our stay was provided. The owner was there to meet me, hand over the keys and explain where everything was and came right on time at the end to collect the keys and return the deposit.

When traveling with children, New York Habitat is so much better than a hotel. Not only because there is more space but, with a kitchen on site, they can be fed familiar food prepared "at home" and at convenient times.

My sister, mother, and I stayed in the apartment at Rue d'Assas in Paris 6 from May 31-June 10, 2005. It was everything that was advertised and the the owners who helped us in advance (by e-mail), and after we arrived, were very gracious, especially in understanding my bad French and accommodating a changed flight time on our last day!

The location of the apartment is absolutely ideal, the apartment itself is charming and old-fashioned, etc, etc, etc. I think it would be possible to sleep 4 in the apartment if you had to, but in any case it was just right for us, and compared with just about any hotel in the 6eme extremely affordable.

The only suggestion I would make is to note in the online description of the apartment that there is no telephone and no oven.

We found the apartment to be exactly as we had anticipated from the information received. It was well equipped, clean, comfortable and within a fairly quiet location (although very near to all amenities including shops, metro(s)/RER, restaurants etc) and within walking distance of Montparnasse - a lively and renowned area in itself. All in all I would say that the quality of the apartment certainly contributed to our enjoyment of Paris.

In addition we found [the owner of this Paris vacation rental] to be friendly, accommodating and flexible.

I hope this is sufficient for your purposes. All in all we were extremely pleased with everything and feel that the apartment is very recommendable.
