Studio Apartment in Upper West Side (NY-14634)

This top-floor studio is less than 2 blocks from Central Park, on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, at the cross of West 88th Street and Columbus Avenue. It's on the 4th floor of a walk-up building (3rd floor on European standards) on a charming townhouse-lined street. There is an intercom to each unit at the entrance for your guests to announce themselves.

Light blond wood floors line the main room, harmoniously complimenting the sage and white wallsPainted brick provides texture, and there is a cute decorative fireplace next to the kitchenette. The room is simply furnished with a double size bed and a small dining table, and there are two closets to store your belonging out of sight. The kitchen space is built into the wall, with a mini refrigeratorsmall gas ovencoffee maker and marble countertop in addition to all the basic cooking necessitiesThree bay windows allow in light from the north, illuminating this top floor unit and looking through treetops across the street.

Wireless Internet access is available throughout the space.

Ideally situated between two parks (Central Park and Riverside Park), this Upper West Side apartment can take you away from the hustle and bustle normally associated with New York City. West 88th Street is a tree-lined street with many ironstones and low-rise buildings. However, with Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue on either side of this apartment, you are within a short walk of a supermarket, a Duane Reade pharmacy and a Starbucks. Many local restaurants also line these streets, perfect for when you don't feel like cooking at home. The Museum of Natural History, portrayed in countless films and books, is just one subway stop away, and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir provides a perfect place for jogs and strolls in Central Park.

The nearest subway stations are both on 86th Street, about 2.5 blocks in either direction, serving the 1/2 and A/B/C lines, which conveniently have express and local trains, making the infamous NYC commute a little simpler.

The apartment was excellent and the apartment owner was helpful throughout our stay. The apartment in particular is much better than one would hope for on the Upper West Side - it's quiet, relatively spacious, elegant, and well decorated. Additionally, it is fully furnished so there is no hassle in moving into the place itself. Finally, it's on the fourth floor, which we enjoyed because the apartment was detached from the noise of the street below. Also the location is perfect - we ran in the Park nearly every morning as it was only a block away and the area is surrounded by good bars and restaurants. Overall, we would recommend this apartment to anyone seeking a nice, low key, short term stay in the Upper West Side.

Tara and Sheldon are the best. Such a great experience renting this apartment as they were both very kind and made you feel that, should you need anything at all, they were a simple phone call away. The location is perfect and close to pretty much any amenity you could need, from laundry services to great bars and restaurants. I found the suite to be comfortable and quiet, especially for New York. My first comment upon checking in... "wow, this place looks EXACTLY like the photos!" Needless to say, I would definitely rent here again when I return in the Fall. Thanks again!!

I stayed at this great apartment for 5 weeks and loved my time there!

On arrival I was welcomed at the apartment by a friend of the owners and had a quick tour through the apartment. My first impression was that it was exactly what I expected based on the pictures and descriptions on the website. The apartment has a decent size for two people, the basic amenities are all present, and the building is situated in a great neighbourhood.

The room featured a comfy queen size bed, satellite tv, a small but complete kitchen, a nice bathroom with great a shower, and a kitchen table with two chairs. The only thing I kind of missed during a my stay was a comfortable chair or couch, I had to resort to the bed or a kitchen chair to watch tv or work. On the other hand, the city has so much to offer I did not spend to much time in the apartment anyway.

The apartment was situated perfect between two subway lines, and in between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue that are packed with great little restaurants and shops. Also, with Central Park at the end of the street, the location could not be better.

With respect to quietness/loudness of the apartment, there will always be some noise from the street in New York City. With the windows open, it can be a bit noisy but with the windows closed I had no problems. But this probably also goes for the higher end apartments in NYC.

Lastly, I had some problems with some of the equipment in the kitchen but this was taken care of smoothly and adequate by the owners, and in a very kind and thoughtful way. So, great service!

All in all, a great choice for this budget, and it mad my stay in New York unforgettable! Thanks to the owners for being so hospitable, helpful and friendly!

    Definitely recommend this apartment!

That is a great rental in NYC, near to Central Park and in the heart of West Upper Side. I recommend a lot. Good towels, sheets, bed, TV LCD, closet, good shower, great pans. The landford/ owners were adorables and understanding.
Otherwise, I have to point to improve on the future:
    - cable TV. There is just a antenna device and somentimes doesn?t work very well,
    - laundry dishes machine (doesn?t has)
    - kitchen cabinet is more or less
    - few tableware and cutlery to cook
    - as the floor is not so tied, the dust spreads with facility
    - the light is indirect, what is good. But if you need more lights you have to improvise

Again, I could go back in the future even with no itens above (unless the cable TV).

Thank you for your review, Christina. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for the feedback, too! The apartment is a studio, so unfortunately we do not have space for some of the things you mentioned, such as a washer or more kitchen cabinet space. I also appreciate your comments about the TV, cutlery and light. We will keep this feedback in mind when we make further improvements in the apartment.

We really had a great time spending two months in this place: The apartment is very nice. It was clean, well and nicely furnished and had plenty of sun in the morning.

The place is extremely well located in a very central yet calm neighborhood, only two blocks away from Central Park and the Broadway with two subway lines (B,C and 1 trains) and plenty of stores and restaurants nearby.

The landlords are extremely nice and helpful people who did their best to make us feel as comfortable as possible.

All in all, everything went pretty well, we'd book the apartment anytime again.

The owner of the building was very friendly from the moment I signed the contract. She assisted in answering all my questions prior to my arrival and spent a great deal of time with me on the day of my arrival. The apartment itself was great!

The location was very accessible and close to all forms of transportation. It was very quiet and had all the amenities one would need during their stay. Including pots/pans, linens and information about the New York City and all the attractions.

This apartment was perfect for my experience of living as a New Yorker for 2 months. Ample, lighted and ventilated, with excellent location. Quite close to two subway stations. The surroundings are great, full of restaurants, bars, pharmacies, laundromats, and everything else you need to live well.

I recommend this apartment with praise, and I intend to rent it on another occasion.

Congratulations to the owners of the site and manages the great service they provide to their tenants.

Our New York Habitat experience was an absolute dream from start to finish. The process to secure the apartment through New York Habitat was simple and quick, thanks to the helpful staff. The owners were very welcoming and supplied detailed information about the area, as well as up to date tourist information regarding New York in general.

The apartment itself was very comfortable with a nice bed and all linens supplied, flat screen TV and fast Internet. We enjoyed using the kitchen thanks to the fully stocked dinner set, glasses, pots, pans and everything we needed.

The location was excellent, just minutes from 2 subway lines, great bars and restaurants and of course the park 5 minutes away. We cannot recommend this furnished rental apartment highly enough.
