Enjoy Manhattan from a bird's eye view and just one subway stop away in this furnished room for rent in a shared 3 bedroom apartment. This apartment is a duplex - spread over the northeast side of the 13th and 14th floors (equivalent to the European 12th and 13th floors) in a luxury building on Roosevelt Island. Roosevelt Island is a residential area nestled between Midtown Manhattan and Queens, just one subway (or air tram!) stop from the Upper East Side. Not only do you benefit from all the space this roommate share has to offer, you also benefit from the building itself: here you have access to a fitness center and a huge indoor pool in addition to having an elevator and a 24 doorman to greet you each day.
The room itself is on the lower level of the apartment, where all the bedrooms are situated, with a shared bathroom in the hallway. The room has a classic feel to it, with a double bed and matching bedstand and bureau of drawers with a large mirror atop. Folding doors hide a closet with shelves and hangers for keeping your personal belongings out of sight. You also have some shelves in the corner for books or other items that you may prefer to display. Of course, for entertainment there is a television with cable access and WiFi is also available when you need it! One of the best parts of your room for rent is the windows and view! Two windows with northeastern exposure give you a great view across the East River to the famed NYC skyline. Blinds provide privacy when you need it.
Upstairs you have the common rooms: the living room with its shared balcony and kitchen, as well as a half bath. The comfortable living room is bright with four corner windows and through a doorway you can step out into the fresh air onto the balcony, complete with comfortable patio furniture. The kitchen offer stainless steel appliances, from a dishwasher to a microwave, and make it simple to cook up some food while at home.
Take the elevator downstairs from the three bedroom apartment share and through the lobby and you will find yourself on Main Street, Roosevelt Island's main thoroughfare. Just about a block south you have the subway station that will drop you off on Lexington Avenue and East 63rd Street in 1 quick stop. A little further is the tram, when you're in the mood to enjoy the beautiful skyline on your way to Manhattan. Once you step off, you are not far from Hunter College and the Museum Mile on 5th Avenue. There is also a Whole Foods Market on East 59th Street for when you're planning on going home and cooking. However, there are plenty of reasons to stay on the island itself - you have all the major New York staples including Starbucks and a Duane Reade pharmacy/convenience store and a variety of restaurants to choose from! There is even a public library branch just across the street from your building. The area is also great for jogging, especially with the Light House Park and the riverfront on either side of you, and plenty of interesting scenery to take in, be it Queens or the Midtown.

Apartment was well situated. My experience in the apartment was good, but I left earlier because I didn't get along very well with the owner. |

My experience here has been way over my best expectations. The owners are great people, welcoming and eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The room, reasonably large by NYC standards, is cosy, clean and has a breathtaking view on the East River and uptown Manhattan. |
