The host and her son are great, very nice and always there to help. The bedroom has a good storage space, a large desk with chair and a large and comfortable bed. It is a very quiet place and good for resting at night. The bathroom doesn't have storage space but is good and always kept clean. There are supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The subway is 12 min on foot. There is a laundry place 3 blocks away. The kitchen has everything you might need and I was given a good space in the fridge. I recommend the place and the host.

Hello Okan, thank you for your kind review.
I really enjoyed the two months of your stay. It is always nice to have a gentleman around. High Five paws from Oreo and he is missing your belly rubs. All the best to you!

Great experience in this shared apartment. The owner was always really honest, she was really great. Small downside: the dog. It was quite annoying during my stay: it was barking at night, I could not leave the house without the dog barking and biting. Point of improvement: Educate the dog. Great location, great value for money too.

Hello Adrien, thank you for your kind review. I really appreciate that you enjoyed your stay at the apartment.

However, as a loving parent of a dog yourself, for sure you know that the only thing they can do is bark. Bark when they are happy, bark when they want to play with you and also they bark when they are scared. But you also know that they give you unconditional love.
Thus, Oreo apologizes for his behavior and will try to get a refreshment course on how to behave with humans.
Meanwhile, I take the time to wish all the best in your future. Buena Suerte!

Awesome stay, Anna is a very nice hostess and always available for any request. The apartment is great and quite well located, close to shops and subway. Very quiet family neighborhood, no noise. The landlady's son Jose lived in the apartment and was really nice, as was his dog Oreo. Again, these people are great and the apartment is great. I recommend it to everyone without reservation. Long live Peru

Thanks Alan! It was so nice to have you as a guest. It was amazing to see a responsible young guy with his job, as well as keeping his room in a mint condition. Jose sends his regards, and Oreo sends you High Five paw. I wish you all the best for your future.

I enjoyed my stay at the apartment. It was clean, comfy, close to Manhattan, close to the Washateria and Grocery Stores. I was given the most respect and wish I could stay longer. Its like my 2nd home.
I love the dog that stayed with us as well.

I was also given complete privacy without any interruptions. Anna would always bring me clean sheets and towels. and also loved the fact that she gave each tenant their own individual space in the kitchen/fridge/kitchen cabinet.

Thank you Shayan. It is rewarding to know that you had a pleasant stay, as much as I enjoyed having you here as our guest.

I think the best thing I can say about this apartment is this: Expect Surprises.

It is located about 10 min away from the 40street stop on the 7 train, which is a very good location in queens, and can get you to Midtown in 20 min on a good day.

That being said, there was alot of surprises I ran up against with this apartment and ultimately why I moved out 9 months before my lease ended.

Surprise Number 1: No where in the listing on NYHabitat is it stated that the landlord has parakeets in the apartment. This was a surprise I found out about the day I moved in. They are loud and constantly making noise that I could hear from my room, with the door closed. I found them to be disruptive and annoying.

Surprise Number 2: Utilities here average around 75 dollars, which is incredibly high. The reason for this is because you are splitting the utilities with 5 other people, which leads to...

Surprise Number 3: You would think that in a 3 bedroom apartment, that you would share the apartment with 2 other people right? Wrong. The Landlord shares their bedroom with their son, whom is frequently at home. The Landlord regularly has guests come over and sleep on the couch. These guests are come and stay over night so frequently that it effects how much you will pay for utilities each month. There is no warning and no notification as to when they will arrive. You will most likely stumble across them sleeping on the couch.

Surprise Number 4: The pictures of the apartment on NYHAbitat look great right? Well in real life, the apartment is a mess. There is literally stuff everywhere. There is very little space to sit or set your bag down. I would say that, given a few years, this apartment could appear on one of those reality shows about hoarders. It is very very messy and there is little room for you things.

Surprise Number 5: The landlord can go into your room with no reason at all, and not notify you until after. On multiple occasions I would arrive home after work and the landlord would make comments on the room and tell me to change things from the way I had arranged them. And even once made remarks about items in my dresser drawer that was closed, meaning the landlord had to have opened the drawers and looked through my stuff.

Surprise Number 6: The dishrags in the kitchen are not for you to use. I love Ramen, and I make it in the microwave often. Cooking Ramen in the microwave creates water condensation, and I usually take the dishrag that the landlord leaves out to wipe up the condensation after cooking. Well on one occasion I was cleaning the condensation out of the microwave and the landlord began yelling at me that I had dirtied the dishrag. The Landlord continued yelling at me about how the rag would have to be washed, even after my attempts to reassure the landlord that I was only wiping up water. The Landlord then proceeded to continue to yell at me about how bad a person I was and how I was unclean and then proceeded to tell me I should start looking for a new place to live.

So if you like surprises, this is the place for you. No day will be the same, and who knows what crazy fun you will find upon returning to the apartment after a long day of work.

Thank you for your review, Joey. Indeed, the apartment's location is very convenient and I am happy that you found it to be so. To address the "surprises" you mentioned -- first, it is unfortunate that it seems as though you were "surprised" by many things regarding the rental.

There are rules that are written in the contract that each guest should be familiar with. Utilities are $75.00 (for winter time) and $85.00 (for summer time). You enjoyed the fan, A/C, wireless internet and cable all through your stay. Additionally, at your request, I showed you both statements.

Regarding other guests, it was my niece and a friend who arrived in the apartment and moved out to Brooklyn the next day. I did advise you well ahead of their arrival.

Upon arrival, you were advised to keep the room (including the closet space) decently clean, to recycle and to clean after yourself. However, it does not seem as though any of these requests were complied with. I always remind guests to clean up after themselves given the sharing situation.

I also remind guests to keep their room clean because I am always concerned about welcoming bed bugs and other insects into the apartment. I would appreciate if guests removed the garbage from their room regularly. Otherwise, in the name of cleanliness, I would have to pick up the garbage myself from the guest's room.

Excellent service from the New York Habitat people, good apartment. Very friendly landlady. The apartment share was exactly what it said in the offer.
Couldn't have asked for more. Made my stay in New York much easier.

During my time in New York, I stayed five months at 42nd Street in Sunnyside. Overall, I was very satisfied with the room and my stay there. The room was small but nice, the apartment was clean at all times, the landlady was very nice. Also, I liked the area where the apartment is located. The only issue I had during my stay was the dog that also lives in the apartment and that can be aggressive at times. Some people I talked to that also stayed there had the same problem, others didn't. Speaking about me, it took about three months to get the dog accustomed to me being there.
I think it would be a good idea to let the future tenants know about this before they move in. Despite this, I had a very pleasant time in Sunnyside.

I hope this helps!

I would like to give my valuation on the shared apartment in which I lived.

The owner is one of the nicest person in the world, she helped me a lot and she was really kind with me.

My room was nice and everything I knew that should be there, I found, so the contract I signed was really good.

I shared the living room, the bathroom, the kitchen and there was no problem.

The area [in Queens] was really quiet, nice and cheap, not far from where I worked.

The only thing: tell people that there's a dog. I wasn't told this and it wasn't a nice surprise. The dog is really nice so I got used but it's right that people know this.

Thank you for all your help
