In the heart of the Lower East Side, this Historic 1890 New York Tenement building is as kind and soothing as an old friend. Our apartment is a duplex, combined by a staircase. The apartment entrance is on the third floor. There is no elevator. The superintendent lives on the first floor in apartment 3A. There are two locked doors to the building, and a locked door to the coin operated laundry room on the first floor.
The whole apartment was recently remodeled. Overall, the atmosphere is clean, simple and minimalist. South-facing windows pour in light that reflect off the buttery hardwood floors. The kitchen and living room are located on the lower floor and the bedrooms are upstairs (with an upstairs gate to protect children).
The master bedroom has a double bed with freshly laundered linens. Beautiful French doors divide the master bedroom from the other bedroom. There are 2 single beds in the second room. There is a sofa bed in the living room or a single-sized air mattress also available.
The neighborhood is hip, colorful, artful and very tasty. Just a couple short blocks away from Shillers, Tiny's, Cocoa Bar, Azul, Falai, Rayuela, Essex, Frankie's, Clinton St. Baking Company, Spitzers, THOR and Whole Foods. A comfortable walk from the sights of The East Village (10 mins), Chinatown (10 mins) Little Italy (15 mins), and SoHo (20 mins).
Public transportation is everywhere. The subway station is a block away on Delancey street. The F, M, J, and Z trains stop there. The M14, and M9 Bus stops just two blocks away on Essex Street. A short bus ride to the East River Park or the Union Square GreenMarket. Taxis can be hailed on Delancey or Houston anytime of the day or night.
Please BE AWARE that there are two cats in this apartment. A neighbor will come by to feed them.
