One bedroom apartment in Greenwich Village.
|
Location: Greenwich Village, NYC. Greenwich St. between West 12th and Jane St.
Size: 850 square one bedroom apartment with one bathroom Building:Built as an industrial building in 1890, this six-story loft building is located in a quiet residential corner of historic Greenwich Village. The building is an artists co-op and all residents are involved in the arts as a career or serious pursuit. On a historical note, this unit (when it was industrial space) sold small ship parts to the ship building industry on the Hudson River. At that time four portholes from the turn of the century were put into the east wall allowing ambient light and a breeze to cross the space. The loft is located on the fourth floor, accessible by three flights of stairs. There is no elevator. The front door to the building is kept locked and entry is with your own key or, for visitors, through an intercom system. All residents have access to a communal roof garden.
Interior: This unit is bathed in light all day long, and especially in the afternoon as six large windows face west, three to the south and six smaller windows to the east. A wonderful view of Greenwich Street winds south towards Battery Park and the sky is open to the west above the relatively low height of the West Village neighborhood. The loft has maple floors and has been furnished to retain a sense of space and simplicity. For those that like to cook, there is a full-size open kitchen with ample cupboards, counter space, cooking supplies, coffee maker, freezer and a cooking/eating island. A dining room table, nestled in one corner, folds out easily for formal dining. There is a window AC unit.
On the eight foot down-cushion couch one can stretch out and watch the sunset, a movie or take a fine nap.
The bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and A/C.
There is a walk-in closet and drawers for storage.
The bathroom has a bathtub with a shower and an exposed brick wall. Bed linens and bath towels are provided. The unit has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, stereo and and internet access via wireless and cable.
Neighborhood: The building is located just off Hudson and Bleecker Streets which are hopping with restaurants, shops, designer boutiques and antique stores to the east; the trendy meat packing district with new restaurants and wine bars to the north; and the Hudson River with a walking/biking path that runs for miles just two blocks to the west. Also, above the meat packing district is Chelsea with a fabulous indoor market and, like the village, a seemingly infinite supply of restaurants, stores, bars and entertainment options. Soho and Washington Square are a short walk away.
Transportation: With all the options and fabulous neighborhoods within walking distance, you may never leave the area but public transportation is everywhere. Bus stops and eight different subway lines are less than 5 minutes away. Taxis can be hailed anywhere, anytime.
