Studio apartment between place des Vosges and place Bastille
|
Neighborhood:
Located between rue Saint-Antoine and rue du Pas de la Mule, this studio apartment is next to the royal Place des Vosges, hailed for the harmony of its architecture and famous for being the former residence of French novelist Victor Hugo from 1832 to 1848 (number 6). It is part of the special atmosphere enclosing the live and historical Marais area with its substantial number of points of interest, such as museums, art galleries, design shops, as well as diverse types of trendy bars and restaurants. In walking distance are the Seine River with its two delectable islands -- Ile de la Cite and Ile Saint Louis -- and the Hotel de Ville (city hall).
Just steps away is the Rue de la Roquette, a street mostly frequented by young people. The heart of this area is the historic Place de la Bastille, symbol of the French Republic. Built during the 14th century as a fortified royal residence, it is the most famous monument in Paris. The new Opéra House is nearby, considered one of the best operas in the world. The neighborhood features a number of traditional restaurants, cafes and open-air markets, such as the market on Place d'Aligre and one on rue Richard Lenoir. Numerous cinemas are in and around the area.
Premises:
This 45m˛ (approx. 480 sq. ft.) Parisian style alcove studio apartment is located on the third floor (fourth in the USA) of a 17th century walk-up building. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded security system, which opens into a corridor with the original exposed ceiling beams and an authentic wooden staircase. The apartment has also kept its authenticity in décor with exposed ceiling beams and a tommette tiled floor.
The 22m˛ (approx. 235 sq. ft.) living room has two windows overlooking a courtyard with an eastern exposure; it is divided into two parts. The first one is the living area furnished with a sofa, a folding dining table with chairs, a cable TV, a DVD player and a built-in closet. The second part is the bedroom separated from the living room by curtains. It is furnished with a double-size bed and a chest of drawers.
The bedroom area has access to the bathroom, which is equipped with a bathtub, two washbasins and an electric towel-drying rack.
The separate kitchen has two electric plates, an electric oven, a microwave, a small refrigerator, a combo washer/dryer, a coffee maker, a toaster and a kettle.
There is also a separate toilette located in front of the entrance door.
The nearest metro station is Bastille (lines 1,5 and 8).
Heat and hot water are both electric and are individually metered.
