Charming Provencal Villa with A/C and garden in le Cannet - near Cannes
|
The villa is located in a quiet residential street of the old village of le Cannet. The original mansion, (on 176 sqm grounds) in a green wooded setting offers peace and a quiet atmosphere for a simple stopover or a longer stay. It is a delightful place, only four kilometers and a 10 mn drive from the Croisette and its beaches, the Cannes Congress Centre and the Massif de l'Esterel.
Built over 3 centuries ago, the cosy villa has recently been renovated while still preserving its original soul. Perfectly integrated into its grounds, it is laid out over three levels where all the living spaces open onto the small garden. It offers more than 120 sqm of living space : a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a second room with washbasin as well as a large Italian sofa-bed in the drawing room. It can accommodate 6 people maximum.
The layout is as follows : The whole house is paved with those same "tommettes". It is equiped with air conditionning.
Entering the villa, you will find a small hallway paved with typically Provencal red hexagonal terracotta tiles (tommettes) which gives access to the quaint garden. To your right, you will find a vast shower room with massage shower jets was.
On the first level (ground floor), there is an antique Napoleon III sofa under the prettily curved staircase. There is also a separate toilet with washbasin. (To the right of the entrance hall, there is a cellar with an old winepress). Walking up the stairs, to your right you will find the dining room with fully equipped en-suite kitchen. The dining room has a carpet, a large modern rectangular table that sits 6, as well as six comfortable chairs/armchairs. There is a French window opening onto the terrace and the garden.
The separate fully-equipped kitchen has a provencal cupboard, a small table, four gas burners, a hood, an electric oven, a refrigerator/freezer, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a coffee maker, an electric knife, a kitchen robot and a toaster. The kitchen has all necessary cooking utensils and crockery.
To the left of the staircase, you find a drawing room that is equipped with a large comfortable Italian sofa, a carpet, coffee table and wardrobe. The room has satelliten Flat screen TV, CD/DVD player, stereo, a cupboard with traditional family safe, a fireplace and a dressing cabinet.
On the second floor the master bedroom to the right is furnished with two single beds that can be turned into a King-size bed. There is also a Napoleon III armchair and a large antique wardrobe. The room has a spacious en-suite bathroom with a tub, a French bidet, washbasin and lots of closets.

The room has a fireplace and a small terrace with "balustrade" that gives onto the orange-trees and palm trees of the hill. Its other window has a small sea-view. A cot is availble for babies.
The apartment is fully Air Conditioned.
You will enjoy the terrace and the garden, planted with various Mediterranean trees (orange trees, eucalyptus but also a Muscat grape vine. Quality garden furniture is available as well as a gas BBQ. The garden is a very special place with its former "lavoir" or wash place, its former red brick rabbit hutches, its fruitier (outdoor fruit cabinet) and finally its "bousquetière" where the family kept wood for the fireplaces. A laundry room opening onto the garden is equipped with a washing machine and dryer.
Neighbourhood : Free parking space is available in the street or just in front of the house. There is also a covered public parking in the village that is free of charge. Le Cannet (little Cannes) has much to offer in terms of artistic life. It has been the haunt of lots of famous painters. Pierre Bonnard, the famous painter who lived in Le Cannet is buried in the "Notre Dame des Anges"graveyard. All shops are within short walking distance (bakery, pharmacy, post office,Cinema, supermarket, Cafés, restaurants...).
The historical town of Le Cannet is just at the top of Cannes's famous boulevard Carnot.
Access : Bus line # 1 stops nearby and will take you to Cannes La Croisette in less than 20mn.
By road : A8 Motorway, exit at Cannes-Mougins. The regional centre and seat of the department, Nice, is 30 minutes to the east. Here, the Nice train station is served by the high speed TGV, only 5 hours from Paris, its international airport (Nice Côte d'Azur) has daily flights from New York. With a car, you can range far and wide on day trips alone : Italy is only 1 hour away, Aix en Provence 90 minutes away.
