Two bedroom / one bathroom apartment in the Alpilles.
This authentic Mas is situated on the old road leading to the Baux de Provence from Saint-Rémy de Provence across the famous Alpilles. It is divided into 4 independent accommodations. One of them, also known as La Fresque is available all year long for weekly rentals.
This pleasant two bedroom / one bathroom two story house can accommodate 5 adults maximum. This independent part of the Mas has a private terrace. The name of La Fresque comes from an original fresque that is still on one of the walls in the living room. This part of the Mas would be three century old (approximately 1760's) and probably used to be a private chapel.
You enter the house through a French window. Ahead, a staircase leads to the bedrooms situated upstairs. On the ground floor, on your right hand, is the living area which can be divided into three parts :
-The living area with a double-size sofa bed, a lounge table and a fireplace.
-The dining area with a round wooden table seating five.
-The open and fully equipped kitchen : 4 gas burners, oven, washing machine, refrigerator / freezer and a coffee maker.
A staircase gives you access to the bedrooms situated upstairs. The master bedroom has a double bed. It has a window and a large closet in the corridor.
Another bedroom, furnished with a single bed and a nightstand, would be available as well. This room has a closet and a window.
Both bedrooms have south exposure and face the garden.
On the same floor, the bathroom to be shared is standard : bathtub with shower and a sink. The toilet are separated (in the corridor same floor as well).
An internet Access is available.
There is a parking space at the entrance of the property so you can enjoy your garden peacefully.
By car from the Mas, you can reach Saint-Rémy de Provence in 5 minutes and Les Baux in 10 minutes. You can also rent bicycles in Saint-Rémy at Ferry Location (route de Cavaillon) and cross the Alpilles riding bravely your bicycle (but you got to have very good health condition because this ride is extremely difficult !). You can also discover the Alpilles horseback riding. An equestrian center in Saint-Rémy organizes tours during summertime. The local market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are plenty of bars and restaurants all around the main street (going all around the village).
The famous ruins of Glanum are also nearby : an old archeological site from the first century before Christ . It's definitely worth a look. For paintings lovers, the hospital where Vincent Van Gogh stayed (Cloitre Saint-Paul) is also a good excursion for the day. You may even recognize one of the landscapes he drew while he was there.
Les Baux is also a wonderful site. The view from the old castle is amazing and the Cathédrale d'Images usually offers interesting exhibitions.
Arles and La Camargue are only 30-40 minutes away by car and Avignon and its famous theater festival (in July) is 30 minutes away as well.
There are plenty of things to do and see in this region.
