Our apartment on Rue Pierre Nicole, in the 5eme, was spectacular. Although the pictures of the apartment are compelling, the actual apartment is much nicer than the pictures convey. The Parisian light dances over the window flower boxes, flooding the charming living room each afternoon. Even rainy days, of which there are many in August, are enjoyable in this apartment, particularly if accompanied by the moody music of Eric Satie's Gnossiennes.

The scent of fresh bread and croissants wafted up each morning from the corner boulangerie, a few paces from the apartment. We loved the free Sunday concerts in the Luxembourg Gardens, an easy five minute walk away. We did most of our shopping on Sunday mornings at the close-by outdoor market on Blvd. de Port-Royal. Also, for exceptional food, La Grande Epicerie at the Bon Marche is not to be missed. The owners were very thorough in explaining how everything works; from the international phone system, wireless Internet connection and cable television, to the gourmet kitchen appliances and washing machine. They made us feel like family, even storing our excess luggage for us for a month while we lived in Cannes. The apartment building
is serene, as is the street. Perhaps because so many Parisians travel in July and August, we never heard any neighbors. The RER B station is close to the apartment, but we preferred strolling down Blvd. Saint Michel towards the Seine and picking up the Metro at one of the many stops in the area. We wanted the feeling of being Parisian, not just visiting the city.

Our summer in this apartment will forever be a part of us, one of our most cherished memories.
