This fully furnished one bedroom duplex apartment is located in the Bastille area of Paris, in the 12th arrondissement. The apartment occupies the 1st and 2nd floors of a 3 story house dating from the 18th century, renovated with style by an architect to accommodate modern needs. There is only one other apartment in the building, crating a private and calm atmosphere.

This apartment features oak wood floors and window fames, as well as exposed wooden ceiling beams and slate floors in the bathroom. The rooms are warmly decorated with contemporary décor, complimented by charming accents from travels around the world. The entrance is through the 3rd floor, comprised of the living room, dining area, kitchen and half bath. Stairs lead you down to the lower level, where there is the bedroom and a full bathroom.

The windows of this vacation rental overlook a private garden, bathing the rooms in natural light and providing an additional level of calm and privacy.

Maps and recommendations on the best local restaurants, shops and markets can be provided by the owners.

This accommodation is located on the Rue de Faubourg Saint-Antoine, found in the 12th arrondissment of Paris in the Bastille neighborhood. This area, with its small passageways and artisanal shops, offers an authentic Parisian experience. Many sites are within walking distance, or easily accessible via public transit; the place de la Bastille is only 2 metro stops away, where you can stroll to the Place des Vosges or visit Victor Hugo's house. The Rue Paul Bert, beginning 2 blocks away, has several acclaimed eateries, including L'Ecailler du Bistrot, known for its seafood, or Chardenoux, serving classic French cuisine. Each morning the rue d'Aligre holds a market where fresh foods can be purchased, and there is the convenience of a pharmacy and small grocery within 50 meters.

The nearest metro stop is Faidherbe-Chaligny (Line 8), less than a half block from the apartment.

This apartment was a delight - it's spacious (by Paris standards!), well equipped, and decorated in a comfortable and natural style which speaks volumes of its owners personality. It's nice to stay somewhere with well populated bookshelves, even though my French is too weak to give me much benefit from them.

The location is good - metro line 8 is literally just outside the door, it's a very short walk to the the Marche d'Aligre outdoor food market, and a long block to a big Monoprix supermarket. 'Ble Sucre' on Square Trousseau is a wonderful pattiserie and the backstreets off Rue Fauberge St Antoine as you head towards Bastille have plenty of interesting shops. It's a central enough location to be convenient without being in the tourist hell of inner Paris.

The really notable thing about the apartment is what an oasis of calm it is. Paris, for all its delights, is a big grey noisy crowded demanding city, and it's a huge relief to come back to an apartment which is almost ridiculously quiet - you'll hear sirens if an ambulance goes past, but most of the time you won't even know you're in a city. Three out of the four windows face onto greenery and we woke up to (raucous) birdsong. I really can't stress enough how nice it was to retreat from the bustle of Paris to the quiet of our apartment.

The stovetop is gas, rather than one of those flat glass induction things, so it's nice to cook on, and there's a bath (albeit a remarkably short one). The lighting, plumbing and the building's staircase all have their imperfections, but that's pretty much a given in an older apartment.

Armelle, the owner, was wonderful to deal with: efficient and professional when arranging the rental, and warm and friendly while we were staying there.

I stayed here with my wife and 11 year old daughter for three weeks, and we felt at home from the first moment. We'd return in an instant.

Indeed, the building and the stairs date back to the 18th century and you can turn on the light with the time switch. The only thing that is untypical in the apartment is plumbering (you have to wait a little for hot water in the bath, as well as for the water to drain). I think these small issues did not bother you so much, but I will contact you to hear more about it and to find solutions.

Hi,

The apartment was a real surprise, even though we had seen many photos and dealt directly with the owner. It was charming, characterful and although relatively small, a really well worked out space that was more than adequate and extremely comfortable. I could have spent the whole day there and not left the view from the window onto the extraordinary garden. And I will use your company again for its efficiency.

Myself and daughters aged 11 & 18 stayed for 4 nights in early June. It was perfect for what we needed, separate bedroom and comfy bed in living room.

The location was great, metro across the road, lots of shops with supermarche nearby. We shopped at the local market and bought croissants every day at the great patisserie along the street. It was outside of the real touristy areas which was good as you got a feel for the real Parisienne life.

The owner was very helpful and gave us tips on what to see and how best to get there. We would love to return again one day.

This was by far the best apartment we have ever rented in Europe. It was very well appointed. Armelle the landlady was gracious and helpful. She said we could pay security deposit in cash so we wouldn't have a lots of Euros on our way home or pay a 4% Paypal fee.

The guidebooks and restaurant recommendations were spot on. The shower was fantastic. There were food supplies and living supplies already in the apartment so we didn't have to run to Monoprix upon arrival. We were very comfortable there and look forwarded to returning this summer.

There is a Metro entrance for line 8 right outside door and line 1 is one long block away. There were many good patissieres and restaurants in the neighborhood as well as a great outdoor food market which was open everyday we were there. Also cute cafes and brasseries.

A really good neighborhood and a great apartment.

This apartment is truly lovely, especially the garden view and the charm of the furnishings. It is quiet and peaceful, and very spacious. The kitchen is well-equipped and a pleasure to cook in.

The neighborhood is fantastic -- a short walk to a large, daily fresh market and lots of little shops and cafes. The Metro is right across the street. It's a short walk to the Bastille and the Marais. We took the Metro everywhere and found it extremely easy to get around. I feel like I saw the "real" Paris rather than just the touristy places. It was a great experience.

The owner was so welcoming and helpful. She answered all of our questions, provided maps and info, and even took us on a walk through the neighborhood. She was respectful of our privacy at all times, but made herself available if we had a question or need.

The whole place has a good vibe! We would definitely return on a future visit.
