Exposed wood beams, high ceilings, a very unique décor and Paris's views are reasons why you should consider this one bedroom loft for your next visit to Paris. Its location at Rue du Château d'Eau & Rue Lucien Sampaix near Place De La Republique in the 10th arrondissement of Paris is little known to tourists but is home to gems like the Canal Saint Martin, and is only 3 subway stop away from the bustling city center! Located on the 6th and top floor (considered 7th by Americans) of a prewar walk-up building, the apartment offers lovely views over Paris' rooftops!
This loft's living area is full of details that make it very unique, like the suspended armchair - perfect spot to relax -, the tomette tiles and oak wooden floors or the wood beams that add a rustic charm to the place. There are two dining tables in the living and dining area and an additional one in the kitchen, providing plenty of space for you and your friends or family to enjoy your home cooked meals. The open plan creates a convivial atmosphere, where everyone can chat without walls separating them. The bedroom is furnished with a king size bed. The toilets in this apartment are separated from the main bathroom; and there is also the convenience of a washer.
Whether you like shopping, eating out, night life or a quiet setting to go for a walk, the 10th arrondissement has something to cater for all tastes. The owner of this apartment will be happy to provide you with maps, neighborhood tips and recommendations, but here is a non exhaustive list of places of interest in the area:
- Canal Saint Martin : a 4.5 km canal (2.8 miles) long canal only 500m (0.3 miles) away from your loft, it is an ideal spot to go to for a stroll in the summer, especially on Sundays when the two streets running parallel to the canal, Quai de Valmy and Quai de Jemmapes, are reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. These two streets are lined with boutiques, cafés and restaurants. Try Chez Prune on Quai de Valmy for traditional French dishes in a trendy atmosphere.
- Place De La Republique : 550 meters away (0.34 miles) to the opposite direction is one of the busiest squares in Paris, also surrounded by many cafés and restaurants, and housing the statue of the Republic.
- New Morning (famous Paris jazz club): If you like Jazz music, don't miss this place reputed to be one of the best jazz clubs since its opening 30 years ago where French and foreign musicians perform. The décor may not be chic, but people are more about feeling the music!
- Musée des Arts et Métiers: Right outside the Arts et Métiers subway stop is this museum dedicated to invention and technology, with more than 3,000 inventions on display.
One of the most important things while being on vacation is finding the best way to get around. This location gives you a very easy access to public transportation, with no less than 6 subway serving 3 different Metro Station: Jacques Bonsergent, Château d'Eau and République. This arrondissement also houses two of the major railway stations in Paris: Gare Du Nord and Gare De L’est, where you can take the train to other cities in France and even the Eurostar that will take you to London in less than 2.30 hours!
