You can take a stroll down to the Hudson River (one block away) and walk along the High Line (5 blocks), a popular attraction that offers amazing views of the skyline. Near the High Line is Chelsea Market, where you can enjoy delicious and freshly prepared meals and treats. Even closer to your apartment, just across the street, is James J Walker Park, a nice spot to relax and take in the fresh air. NYC is such a cosmopolitan city that you should take advantage of the opportunity to experience numerous cultures through their cuisines. There are many restaurants near the apartment, including "EN", a Japanese brasserie just around the corner. For desert you should try "Out of the Kitchen"(also on the same block), which has the best cupcakes in New York. The closest subway station is Houston Street / Varick Street, about three blocks away, which runs the 1 train that will take you all the way up to Harlem or downtown to South Ferry. Alternatively, you can walk ten blocks to the West 4 Street / 6 Avenue station and access the A,B,C,D, E, F, and M trains.
