Our experience in the apartment we rented through New York Habitat was fine. We were met at the apartment as arranged by the owner's assistant - a friendly lady who showed us all the features and how to use the appliances and keys etc. There was no elevator so it was somewhat difficult to get our bags up three flights of stairs, but we managed OK (older people may find it difficult). We did not have to pay the security deposit - just the balance on the rent - which was appreciated as we were slightly worried about handing over a cash deposit that we may never have seen again! The apartment was rather small (as we expected) but totally functional, very clean, and at a good price -- so we were pleased with it.

We did not use the kitchen but it was thoughtfully stocked with basic supplies (milk, coffee, sugar, cereal, flour, some fruit etc). The air conditioning unit was rather loud but worked well -- again, we rarely used it as the temperatures were pleasant during our stay. Shower was fine - plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The toilet was a bit cramped, especially for tall people like my partner! The bathroom included toiletries and a hairdryer, which were also appreciated. The bed was very comfortable but oddly the feather quilt did not have a cover! There were clean sheets though, so we just slept between those with the quilt on top. There was very little street noise and the block of apartments was quiet, so we were never disturbed by noise. The wireless Internet worked well. There was some building maintenance being performed during our stay -- painting and applying linoleum to the floors in the entrance - but the work was not noisy and we were not inconvenienced by this too much. On one occasion there was wet paint on the floor just outside our apartment, but no sign indicating that it was wet, so we walked through the paint and left footprints on the floor to the apartment and in the kitchen, which we had to clean up -- luckily we noticed it early and didn't walk wet paint onto the rug!

The apartment was conveniently located near a subway station and close to Central Park -- we found it easy to get around and explore the city.

Overall, the apartment was not outstanding, but provided exactly what we needed during our stay in New York (a quiet and convenient place to relax, check Internet, shower and sleep), at a reasonable price.

Owner repainted and refloored the common areas of the building. Work has since been completed. The owner has bought a cover for the bed comforter.

The vacation rental where we stayed was as described. We were really surprised by the warm welcome we got when we arrived. The studio apartment is equipped with a quite practical small kitchen, the living room with a queen sized bed and a sofa bed, cable TV and Internet (we could not get the wifi connection but it worked fine with the ethernet cable). As for the bathroom, it is quite small, yet comfortable. The neighborhood is nice, near the subway lines. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment.

Our stay in New York was very pleasant and the apartment was OK. It was definitely a good decision to rent an apartment with [New York Habitat].
The apartment #12377, close to Central Park was as described on the website. There were no surprises when arriving there. The owner was also very friendly.
The size of the apartment was OK and the kitchen was well equipped. The only thing we missed was a hair dryer. The bathroom was a bit too small, so it was not comfortable using the toilet. A very tall person should not stay there.
The subway station is 2 blocks away, which makes it easy to go to Midtown. I would certainly recommend it for someone with a little bit more time in NY.

The apartment was clean and neat, as promised. We liked staying in a quiet, peaceful location that was easily accessible by subway and would definitely stay [in this vacation rental] again. It was a great way to experience New York City.

We were very happy in this apartment, the location was excellent, close to Times Square yet very calm.
The reception from the owner was very friendly, helpful and welcoming which is a great start when you first arrive in New York, tired with kids. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable, a practical space for a family.

Thanks to the very detailed description and the great many photos that were provided by New York Habitat there were no surprises left at all. We found the [New York] apartment exactly as described, and there was enough kitchenware and more than enough towels. So we enjoyed our stay in New York very much!
