A studio apartment in the Bastille area
|
Neighborhood:
This furnished studio apartment is located on Rue de Lappe between Rue de la Roquette and Rue de Charonne. Rue de Lappe is a picturesque, cobblestoned street in the trendy heart of the lively Bastille district. Quiet during the day, with furniture workshops and art galleries, it livens on weekend evenings with its popular restaurants and bars. This apartment is situated a few steps from the historic Place de la Bastille, the site of the new Opéra National de Paris, considered to be one of the best opera houses in the world. (The Opéra was inaugurated in 1989, on the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.) Within a short walking distance is the royal Place des Vosges, the oldest and most beautiful square in Paris, where many historic personalities resided, including Charles VI and Victor Hugo. Built by Henri IV, its perfect symmetry and verticality are fine examples of classical French architecture.
The area around the Place des Vosges is also renowned for its numerous museums, art galleries and antique stores. The latest modern art museum of Paris, la Maison Rouge, was inaugurated on the 5th of June 2004 at number 10 of the Boulevard de la Bastille. The neighborhood around the apartment has all sorts of convenience shops and other services, as well as an outdoor market on Thursday and Saturday mornings. The apartment is also within walking distance of the Picasso museum in the Marais area.
Premises:
This 18m˛ (approx 190 sq ft) studio apartment is located on the second floor of a 19th century walk up building. The entrance gate protected by a coded security system opens into a corridor, which leads to the staircase. The entrance door opens into a small hall, which links the open kitchen and the separate bathroom. The main room is accessible by the open kitchen.
The 14m˛ (approx 150 sq ft) main room has a window with northwestern exposure overlooking a courtyard. It is furnished with a double size sofabed, a large closet, a console, a desk with chairs, a stereo and a TV.
The open kitchen is separated from the living room by a bar and its stools. It is equipped with two electric plates, a combo microwave/oven, a refrigerator, a kettle and many cooking items.
The separate bathroom has a shower topped by a showerhead, a washbasin and a toilette.
Heat and hot water are both electric.
For convenient travel around Paris the nearest metro station is Bastille (line 1,5,8).
