This one bedroom furnished apartment is located on the third French floor (considered 4th by Americans) of a walk-up building at Rue Germain Pilon & Rue Véron in the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris. The 18th arrondissement apartment has a digicode system at the door and also includes laundry facilities in the apartment.
Enter the one bedroom unit through a hallway that leads to the kitchen and bathroom, and opens to the left onto the living room. This open space features high ceilings, hardwood floors, and two large southwestern exposed windows on one side. The bookcases in the room give it a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the living room there is a door that leads to the bedroom. With similar architectural details as found in the living room, this space has a queen size bed and a wall of rustic copper-colored closets. The windows in both rooms offer a view of the rooftops of Montmartre and also allow in pleasant sunlight at mid-day.
The cozy kitchen includes a small refrigerator, regular oven, and 4-burner stove. Through the kitchen there is a door that leads to the bathroom, with a modern pedestal sink and bright red accents. Double windows keep the room bright and airy.
Outside you will find that the apartment is located on a quaint narrow street, typical of Montmartre. It is primarily residential, but within a few blocks you can find bakeries, butchers and cheese shops, plus a Monoprix for larger shopping trips. Head down Boulevard de Clichy to see the Moulin Rouge or the famous Rue Lepic (a few streets west) to visit one of the many cafés and shops on the street. Les 2 Moulins, the café used in the film Amélie is located here.
Of course Montmartre is most famous for Sacré Coeur Basilica and the small artist lined streets surrounding the church. If you walk northeast from the apartment you will find yourself at the base of the famous white monument where you can either "hike" up the steep steps or catch a ride on the funicular. Once up to Sacré Coeur, look out to see one of the most amazing views of the City of Light - from here you will understand how the city got its nickname!
To pick some original pieces of art or a print from your favorite French painter, head to Place du Tertre where many artists set up their easels in the plaza and other vendors sell prints. Nearby the plaza is the Espace Dali, a museum dedicated to the works of Salvador Dali. For getting around the rest of Paris, the nearest metro station, Abbesses, is less than 2 blocks away and serves the 12 line.
