Studio on the famous and historical Mouffetard Street
|
Neighborhood:
This studio apartment is located in the heart of the Place de la Contrescarpe and the rue Mouffetard district on the southern slope of the Montagne Sainte Geneviève. The traditional and typical aspects of Paris has been preserved in this area. The Place de la Contrescarpe is the ideal spot to stroll or to have a drink at the terrace of a café. Renowned writers such as Hemingway used to reside here. The rue Mouffetard is one of the oldest streets in Paris and has many typical Parisian houses and cross streets with their original names (i.e., rue de l'Arbalète, rue du Pot de fer).
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of the rue Mouffetard is the open-air market with its wonderful choice of fruits, vegetables and other fine French products like cheese and pastries. Further down the street are the Place and the Church Saint Medard, built in the 12th century. Also nearby are the Arènes de Lutèce, the Pantheon, the College de France, the Sorbonne, Jussieu University, the Jardin des Plantes, the Institut du Monde Arabe, the Mosquée de Paris (with its beautiful traditional hamam baths, mint tea and pastries), the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Seine River with its traditional secondhand booksellers and delectable islands.
Premise:
This 33m² (approx. 355 sq. ft.) alcove studio located on the ground floor of a 17th century building has a coded security system and a concierge. The main entrance gate opens to a courtyard leading to another courtyard where the building entrance is located. The apartment is directly to the right and faces the courtyard.
High-speed Internet with a wireless connection is available.
The entrance door opens directly into the 15m² (approx. 160 sq. ft.) main room, which is divided into two parts by bookshelves. The first is the living room area with a window that is west exposed and has exterior shutters facing the courtyard. It is furnished with a double-size sofa bed, a dining table with chairs, a desk and a chests of drawers. The second part, hidden by the bookshelves, is the sleeping area furnished with a double-size bed, a chest of drawers and an antique-style sideboard.
The kitchen has a window that overlooks the courtyard; it is equipped with two electric burners, a small electric toaster oven, a refrigerator, a toaster and a washing machine. The bathroom has a bathtub, a washbasin, and a toilette.
Heat and hot water are both electric and individually metered.
The nearest metro stqation is Censier Daubenton (line 7).
