One-bedroom apartment just steps from Canal St. Martin
|
Neighborhood:
This apartment is located on the same street as the Palais des Glaces (Palace of Mirrors, as its walls were once covered in mirrors), which features comedy shows and sometimes shows for children. An area with a cosmopolitan and dynamic air, this neighborhood contains diverse shops, restaurants and cafes. Neighboring Republic Place offers a large array of entertainment and conveniences. Just a few minutes walk away is the delightful Saint Martin Channel, one of the most idyllic local landscapes and a favorite area of Parisians to live. Cycling tracks from Bastille to the Villette district are also nearby, and Place Sainte-Marthe boasts a variety of appetizing restaurants. The Louvre and the Seine are about 10 minutes away by subway. It is also very close to the famous Marais area.
Premises:
This 47m² (approx. 505 sq. ft.) one-bedroom duplex apartment is located on the fifth and top floor of a walk-up building constructed in the 1900s. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded security system. It opens into a nice paved courtyard with old-fashioned shops. This leads to a second courtyard containing the entrance door and another coded security system. This door opens directly into the staircase.
The 27m² (approx. 290 sq. ft.) living room has three windows overlooking the courtyards as well as a skylight. It is furnished with a sofa, armchairs, a coffee table, a pouf, shelves, a dining table with chairs and a flat screen TV with basic cable equipped with a DVD player and a small home theatre system. Under the mezzanine the ceiling height is 1.85m (6 ft.). An extra bed for one person is available upon request.
The open kitchen has a window and is equipped with two gas burners, an electric oven, a microwave, a refrigerator, a freezer, an Italian-style coffee maker and a kettle.
From the living room, a narrow staircase leads upstairs to a mezzanine bedroom area under the roof. It is 11m² (approx. 115 sq. ft.) and furnished with a double-size bed and an armchair (the computer on the pictures is not available). It has a skylight and, since it is under the roof, the ceiling height goes from 1m (3.28 ft.) to 1.75m (5.75 ft.).
BE AWARE that it is necessary to climb over a beam in order to go from the stair to the bed.
The bathroom is located next to the entrance door. It contains a window, a shower, a washbasin, a toilette and a washing machine.
Heat and hot water are electric.
The nearest metro station is Republique (lines 3, 5, 8, 9, 11).
