Neighborhood: This luxurious apartment is located between Les Halles and Beaubourg. Les Halles is one of Paris' oldest neighborhoods; the writer Emile Zola referred to it as "le ventre de Paris" (the belly of Paris). In the 12th century, this area was an open market, which was removed at the end of the 1960s and replaced by the Forum des Halles, a busy multi-level underground complex featuring a shopping mall, museums, the Paris film library, and a sports center. Even today, Les Halles keeps its central vocation to the quotidian life of the city and its inhabitants. The street level of Les Halles features a garden, the Jardin des Halles, surrounded by pedestrian streets. This garden invites visitors to walk among climbing plants, honeysuckle, jasmine, kiwi vines, wisteria, clematis and countless other plants. The Pompidou Center, also known as Beaubourg, an arts complex devoted to modern and contemporary art and design, is a particularly colorful structure in steel and glass with exposed pipes. Around this area of Paris, there are also a lot of small streets such as Rue Montorgueil with its restaurants, cafés, and specialty foods. It is also very close to the Louvre and is just steps from the liveliest part of the Marais. The Châtelet-Les Halles underground train station, connected to the Forum Les Halles, is a major transportation hub with five metro lines and three RER lines (suburban train). Premises: This 110m² (approx. 1,180 sq. ft.) two-bedroom apartment is located on the fifth floor of a renovated 1900s building. The main entrance gate is protected by a coded system and opens into a hall with a secure door and a coded system. This opens into a corridor leading to the small elevator. Since the apartment is located in the corner of the building, it has a double exposure and faces a busy boulevard on one side and a lively pedestrian street on the other. All windows are double-glazed. The apartment has a Versailles-style parquet floor and mouldings. The apartment entrance opens into a hall that leads to the bathroom, the master bedroom, the living room and the dining room. It is tastefully decorated with furniture, sculpture and paintings. The 24m² (approx. 255 sq. ft.) living room has three windows with curtains that give access to a balcony offering a nice view of the boulevard, the pedestrian street, and Les Halles Mall. The living room is furnished with comfortable sofas, a glass coffee table, lamps, tables, art and a decorative fireplace. It is equipped with a flat screen cable TV, a DVD player, a stereo and a phone. There is also a high-speed DSL Internet connection (wireless). The 18m² (approx. 190 sq. ft.) dining room has two doors that provide access to the balcony. It is furnished with a dining table and chairs, art, and a decorative fireplace. The 16m² (approx. 170 sq. ft.) master bedroom has two doors, north exposed with curtains, which provide access to the balcony. It is furnished with a queen-size bed, bedside tables, a chest of drawers, a built-in closet, a wardrobes hidden by a curtain and an armchair. The 9m² (approx. 95 sq. ft.) guest bedroom has a door, east exposed with curtains, which gives access to the balcony. It is furnished with a queen-size bed, a bedside table and a decorative fireplace. This room has a private small bathroom containing a shower and a washbasin. The separate kitchen is decorated in a contemporary style. It is equipped with five vitro-ceramic plates topped by a cooker hood, an oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a microwave, a washing machine, a dryer, a coffee maker, a toaster and an electric kettle. There is a window overlooking a courtyard. The first bathroom (accessible from the entrance hall) is tiled and has a window, two washbasins, a bathtub with a showerhead and a toilette. The separated toilette has a window and a small washbasin. The apartment is also equipped with a vacuum, an iron, an ironing board, fans and a hairdryer. Heat and hot water use gas. For convenient travel around Paris, the nearest metro station is Châtelet-les Halles (lines 1,4,7,11,14 and RER A,B,D).
