Neighborhood:
This is a one-bedroom apartment in Saint Germain des Pres between Rue du Four and Place Saint Sulpice. Situated in this historical district with its elegant, trendy streets, Saint Germain is known for its many stylish fashion shops, antique shops, art galleries, sophisticated and traditional restaurants, pubs and cinemas. After World War II, this area became synonymous with intellectual life centered around bars and cafes. Within short walking distance to the Seine and the delightful Ile Saint Louis and not far from Luxembourg Gardens, there are all sorts of essential shops and services in the neighborhood such as the lively market situated on Rue de Buci.
Premises:
This spacious 80m² (approx. 860 sq. ft.) one-bedroom apartment is located on the second floor of a building from the early 20th century; it faces west/east and has a security code system, an intercom and an elevator.
Most of the rooms can be accessed from the main entry hall. The 10m2 balcony can be reached from either the bedroom or the living room through three French doors. There are double-glazed windows and the décor is mostly antique.
The 28m2 (approx. 300 sq. ft.) living room is furnished with a double-size sofa bed, a rectangular antique coffee table, two area rugs, a floor lamp, a glass end table, an antique desk, two chairs, an antique cabinet, and a compact stereo system. It also has an antique chest of drawers, a mirror, a decorative marble fireplace, two lamps, two antique chairs, a cable flat screen TV, and a telephone.
There is high-speed Internet access.
The entry hall has a small antique table with a lamp, an area rug and two built-in closets. The walls are off white, there is a parquet wooden floor and there are two windows with fabric curtains overlooking the street.
The 11m2 (approx. 115 sq. ft.) bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed (two single beds put together), a little round table, bookshelves, two built-in mirrored closets, an armchair with a foot rest, a small round stand table, an antique mirror, and a narrow cabinet with a lamp. The walls are done in a cream color, there is a wooden parquet floor and it has a window with fabric curtains overlooking the street.
The separate bistro style kitchen is equipped with an inlaid, two-burner gas stove with a fan and a hood, a microwave, a small electric oven, a refrigerator/freezer, a coffee maker, and a toaster. There is a sink, a washer/dryer and cabinets/drawers/shelves with the necessary kitchen utensils. The walls are light yellow with partial green decorative tiles over the counter; it has a marble floor and there is a small window.
The dining room, part of the same area, has one window with east/west exposure overlooking a courtyard. It is furnished with a dining table with chairs, an antique china closet, two barstools, a floor lamp and an antique table. There is a glass desk, a reading lamp, a revolving office chair, a telephone, and a built-in cabinet. The walls are light yellow and there is a marble floor. The room also has a window.
Note: Two closets out of the five will be closed during the tenancy.
The bathroom has a bathtub with an overhead manual shower, a sink with a porthole mirror and bottom cabinet, a towel rack and a small antique cabinet. The walls are off white with partial white tiles. The floor is tiled and there is a small window. The separate restroom has a sink with a porthole mirror and bottom cabinet and a toilet; the walls are off white and the floor is tiled.
The closest metro station is Saint Germain des Pres line 4.
