Description
Bed and Breakfast in Harlem (NY-15063)
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms - Sleeps

This Suite can be rented:

a) as two single Studios, each with a private bathroom and small in-room kitchen or

b) as a Unit/Suite of both Studios to a single party, by the night (minimum number of nights depends on the season), or week, as Bed & Breakfast Units. Alternatively it can be rented for a minimum of one of month as a Roommate / Share rental, where the two Studios described must be rented together as One Unit to a single party.

This fully furnished suite contains two separate efficiency studios (one bedroom, one bathroom units with limited kitchen appliances). These fully furnished bed and breakfast accommodations are located in uptown Manhattan, in historic West Harlem, New York. The rooms are on the GROUND LEVEL (entrance under the stoop) of a walk-up 4-story fully renovated brownstone townhouse dating from the turn of the century, found on a tree-lined brownstone block. There is a buzzer/intercom system for guest entry.

The first bed and breakfast efficiency studio available is the Garden Studio (Bedroom 1 in photos and floorplan), lined with wood floors and featuring exclusive access to a backyard garden seating area. The room is fully furnished with a double size bed and a large twin size convertible sofa bed and has a private 'ensuite' bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub and a shower. There is a small refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker for preparing simple meals.

The other efficiency studio that is available, the South Studio, is at the front of the building (Bedroom 2), and features two windows with southern exposure, flooding the room with natural sunlight. The room has wood floors amd is charmingly furnished with a double size bed and a small dining area. There is a single size folding bed in the closet to accommodate an additional guest. You have a refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker for preparing simple meals. The private bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom, in the corridor, and locks with a key for privacy.

For larger groups or for stays over one month, both units can be rented together as the Ground Floor Suite.

In addition to the appliances within the efficiency studios, the two units share a hallway pantry with supplies.

Wireless Internet access is available throughout, and air-conditioning units cool the rooms in the summer for an additional fee.

Up-to-date information about neighborhood attractions can be provided to guests by the owner upon arrival.

These furnished bed & breakfast accommodations are found in West Harlem, a part of Upper New York City, an area rich in music, art and theatre venues, unique restaurants and parks. Within 2-10 blocks, there are 6 music venues providing weekly live performances in intimate, informal settings. More formal options are also available, such as Music Mondays at the Dwyer Cultural Center. The Apollo Theatre, where many famous artists play on their way up, is just over 7 blocks away, and a short bus ride on the B60 bus will deliver you to the nearby Columbia University's Miller Theatre. The Studio Museum on 125th Street provides art, as do many local art galleries. Enjoy a variety of dining options, 2 - 10 blocks from the townhouse, in small, welcoming surroundings. They range from soul food to international cuisines, from Ethiopian to French to Thai; many of these spots offer delivery options for your convenience.

Saint Nicholas Park (2 blocks away) has plenty of green space for relaxing, and Marcus Garvey Park or Morningside Park are an easy 12-block walk south. You can also bike in the famous Central Park North, only 3 subway stops away. City College is a little over 3 blocks west, and Columbia University is also within walking distance or a short bus ride/1 subway stop away.

The nearest subway stations are just 2-3 blocks from the townhouse. The 2 & 3 trains stop on West 135th Street at Lenox Avenue, the B/C local trains (as well as the A/D trains on the weekends) stop are West 135th Street at St. Nicholas Avenue. 6 bus lines, one of them express, stop 2-5 blocks from the townhouse. These multiple options make commuting around New York City east and fun!

Vacation rental in a great Harlem location, close to subway. Many stores and restaurants, and nice neighborhood atmosphere. Nice welcome from the hostess who also helped a lot make arrangements for our transfer from the airport.

Spacious accommodation, big enough for 2 adults and 3 children. Maybe a bit dark, but there's a terrace to be outside when the weather's nice. Basic equipment for cooking but sufficient for a few days.

Good value for the money and above all an opportunity to discover a neighborhood of nyc that isn't very well known yet.

BON JOUR Sophie, Arnaud, et les Trois Petits: Helois, Clement, and Julie (Julia?).

It was an absolute pleasure - une vraie pleasure - to have five lovely French people at my Ground Floor Suite (also known as the Brownstone Suite.). I am sorry that you came in a winter period, where the sun was mostly absent.

But you Lit Up the Place :-)) I am glad to report the garden/terrace is now full of newly planted coleus red+green plants AND the four rose bushes that seemed totally dead six weeks ago are now covered with bright GREEN leaves, and even some little buds of roses.

Sophie and Arnaud, I am glad I could help make sure that your stay be full of pleasure + comfort. You were lovely and easy going guests, so I found it a joy to have you around.

I hope that you can come back next year. And that I shall be able to teach the kids to say my first name. And to practice my French with all five of you!

The accommodation was very nice and had everything one might need for everyday life. The apartment location is good and the area is safe. The owner was very considerate and has adequately taken care of everything, she is sometimes even a little too caring :)

The cooking facilities could be improved with hot plates for example, and Internet access could also be improved by providing a computer for example.

He was in my South Bedroom (Bedroom 2) with two friends. They were all three excellent guests, and were ready to keep the place in order, including learning to place all bottles in recyclable bags :-)

The only difficulty I had was that it was impossible to get either one of the three on the cell phones numbers they gave me. I do not know why that is.

Since they did not bring a lap top with them, communications had to be done via notes back and forth...

Other than that, they were delightful, and I would love to have them again.

Thank You

The Garden Bedroom was very confortable, and the bed and breakfast in general. It has two bathrooms, and this was usuful for us (we were 6 people). it has no kitchen but was not a problem because the only thing we used was the microwave and the coffee machine, and the owener put them in the entrace of the apartment on a shelves.

A very important thing was also the wireless connection. The owner did everything necessary to us to enjoy a very pleasant week in New York City. and it was like this!

The Italians guests were lovely, and although it is quite a bit of work to do Orientation to six people at a time. Similarly difficult it was to make sure that ALL of them - with varying command of English - do understand the tips or directions or suggestions I gave them.

But with patience on both sides, we managed to communicate, and they definitely told me that many suggestions I made were helpful and important.
