The apartment can be found on a sleepy, tree-lined block of Bleecker, yet it is only steps away from the hubbub of SoHo, the funky Bowery or the thriving East Village. The block boasts one of NY's best chic-peasant Italian restaurants, a French bistro, and well-hidden bars at each end that stay open late. Nearby are a famous rock haunt on Bowery, an off-Broadway theater, a post office, photo developers, a dry cleaner, and a restaurant with strong morning coffee and good breakfast that continues all afternoon.
New York University, just two blocks away, hosts many cultural events. Downtown museums are five minutes walk away, and the subway goes directly from the apartment's doorstep to the major uptown museums. It is about equidistant from the Empire State Building and Wall Street. The original St. Patrick's Cathedral is two blocks south and the famous St. Patrick's is just a few subway stops northward. Greenwich Village is less than 10 minutes walk to the west. Canal Street's famous bargains are less than 10 minutes walk south. All three bridges to Brooklyn are within a stone's throw (by cab, subway or even on foot). It would be tough to find a more central downtown location.
Public transportation is everywhere. The 4,5,6 line stops on the corner of the block. The B,D,F,Q line is one block away. The N and R trains are three blocks away. Buses stop two blocks away and taxis can be hailed at the corner of the block at any time of day or night.
