If you feel like tasting some of the best pizzas in New York, head to Motorino Pizza on 12th Street & 1st Avenue (less than 1 block away from the apartment). There are also many terrific bars and clubs in the neighborhood as well as movie theatres.
The nearest subway station serves the L train and is located one block away from the apartment. You can also catch the N/Q/R and 4/5/6 trains in Union Square subway station (4 blocks west).
