These rooms for rent are part of a 5-story residence building (equivalent to a European 4-story building) on Manhattan's Upper West Side. This walk-up building has a range of extra amenities that make it ideal for student-living. There is a shared laundry rooms for the residents, with washers and dryers, as well as a lounge area with picnic tables for dining, a sofa and flat screen TV for relaxing and several vending machines. In addition to the machines, you have an open cooking area to share with your fellow students, complete with microwaves and stovetop ranges and a sink. Finally, there is an Internet area with computers for those who do not have a laptop to connect to the WiFi Internet.
The double rooms are designed for two people, with a set of single size bunk beds and drawers underneath the beds for storage. There is also a dresser and an area for hanging clothes. The rooms are all tiled for easy clean-up, and they include a sink and a small fridge for keeping your food items.
PLEASE NOTE that there are no private bathrooms, and instead there are three full bathrooms with showers on each floor for the residents to share.
The Upper West Side is a haven for students -- situated close to Central park (a little over two blocks), 4 subway stops from Columbia University and 3 stops from the Lincoln Center. The area around these rooms for rent on West 85th Street and Amsterdam has many convenient amenities, as both Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway are thoroughfares of the area and are lined with coffee shops and quick eateries. There is even shopping options, with stores like Banana Republic and Coach both a little over a block away. For joggers and bikers, the Riverside Park is a great option, which has the Hudson River Greenway that runs all the way to downtown Manhattan. For students in New York, this location can have something for everyone!
The nearest subway station is just two blocks from this apartment, serving the 1 line which makes local stops and can connect you to the 2 / 3 express line. A bit further is the B / C subway station on Central Park West and 86th, giving you more flexibility depending on your destination in NYC.
