Enjoy the Astoria experience in this roommate share apartment in Queens. This room for rent is on the upper level of a 2-story (considered 1-story by Europeans) walk-up building found off the intersection of 45th Street and Broadway. The apartment building includes access to a shared garden area for all its residents and has a buzzer/intercom system for guests.
Bedroom #1 is the available bedroom for rent, and benefits from having a double set of windows that overlooks the backyard garden, to the rear of the building. These windows looks westward and have rolling blinds that can be used when privacy is preferred over natural light. The room has more than basic furnishings, with a mini fridge and flat screen television in addition to the single size bed and armoire. There is also an air conditioning unit to allow you to fully enjoy NYC's infamous hot summers! This apartment share works to maximize the amount of light in every room. The other room of this two bedroom apartment is occupied by the owner, while the kitchen and bathroom are shared. The kitchen has warm wood tones and white appliances, with a dining table as well as a window. In the bathroom, you will find a combination bathtub/shower with another window!
Astoria is known for many things around New York, among them as being the home to Kaufman Astoria Studios, a range of museums and many classic German-style beer gardens. Sesame Street has been filmed here for years, and the Museum of the Moving Image also has its home here, just half a mile (about 800 meters) from this room for rent. The Museum for African Art is a little over a mile away (1.6 km) and the Museum of Modern Art PS1 is reachable within 4 subway stops, a unique branch of the MoMA that is set in a public school! For your everyday needs, you will find many of them around the corner from your building on Broadway, which has a Rite-Aid Pharmacy, a grocery and a cafe all within three blocks (approximately 300 meters). You can also find a laundromat here as well as the nearest subway stop! This subway station serves the M and R train lines and can take you to Midtown Manhattan in as few as 4 or 5 stops!

Your new roommate is extremely friendly and enjoys chatting about your well being. The apartment is located on the second floor of a quiet building in a residential area. However, you are located a block away from the R,M trains at 46th and many buses including Q104 and Q66. Four blocks down is Steinway street where there are many restaurants, banks, bars, gyms, Delis, Cafes, and drug stores. Taxi and Uber's to LaGuardia are inexpensive. There is plenty of shopping on Steinway including Express, Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and Verizon. Kaufman studios and an AMC movie theater are walking distance. The area is safe and well lit. The R, M train ride into Manhattan is ten minutes or less. The E ans F trains stop local on weekends. The M doesn't run on weekends. The mail delivery leaves packages on the inside of the building. If not too heavy, your roommate will leave all your mail outside your bedroom door. You have a key to enter the building, to open the apartment, and to open your private room. Plenty of storage in room. I loved living here and will miss the area as it has everything and I Lynch a quick train ride away from Manhattan. Enjoy! |
