Description
Studio Apartment in Les Halles (PA-1583)
Studio, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps

Found in a lovely building in the heart of Paris is this compact but functional studio apartment. Just steps from the Louvre and the Les Halles plaza, mall and transit hub, this apartment has a convenient location near the intersection of Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau & Rue Etienne Marcel. The 17th century apartment building has beautiful classic elements like a winding wrought-iron stairway and a marble lobby. A security system protects the main entrance gate.

Situated on the 3rd floor (considered the 4th floor by Americans), this furnished studio receives plenty of light from the double window that overlooks a nearby street. Measuring a quaint 18 m² (about 194 ft²), the apartment uses the space efficiently, allowing for a living area with a sofa near the windows, a kitchenette with a dining area, and a lofted bed in addition to the private bathroom.

The sofa is near the window, facing a small flat screen TV and a set of shelves that can be used to arrange your belongings. There is a decorative fireplace separating this section and the kitchen area, which has a small fridge, 2 electric burners, a toaster and a coffee maker. There is also a microwave in the room. A table suitable for two allows you to enjoy simple meals cooked at home.

Off the hallway, you will find the bathroom and the ladder that leads to the lofted mezzanine where the double is found. Please note that the ceilings are low in this sleeping area, which is open and overlooks the kitchen directly. For storage, there is a small closet where clothes can be hung, and two baskets and the shelving in the living area.

The Les Halles area in the 1st arrondissement is one of the most popular destinations in Paris! The heart of what was previously the seat of royal power, it still holds some of the most famous attractions in the city. Listed below are some suggestions of what to do in the area. Note that the nearest Laundromat is at the intersection of Rue Montorgueil and Rue Etienne Marcel (about 210m/.1mi away).

- Les Halles: Locals and tourists alike hang out in this plaza, which has above ground outdoor space with lots of small eateries, and a below ground mall with chain stores. The Les Halles metro stop connects to Line 4 and is only 400m away (.2 mi) and the Châtelet– Les Halles is even more convenient (500m/.3) with Lines 1, 4, 11, 14 and the RER A, B and D!

- Musee du Louvre: One of the most famous and impressive museums in the world, this building offers 35,000 pieces of artwork and is only 800 meters from the studio! (about ½ a mile) Entrances are located at Porte des Lions, Galerie du Carrousel, and Pyramid.

- Tuileries Gardens: This gorgeous garden offers fresh greenery and a rich history – including that of the now-destroyed royal palace which once stood there. Located just west of the Louvre museum.

- Palais Royal: This is the former seat of the royal power. Located at about 650m to the west (approx. .4mi).

- Eglise Saint- Eustache: This beautiful church presents impressive architecture (and a strange appearance- the building was never finished!) and some of Paris’s largest organs. You can even see the bell tower from the courtyard of this building!

I lived in this apartment for my year abroad, studying in Paris. I can honestly say that it was one of the best places I could have hoped to live. Everything was incredible, from the location to the owners to the furnishings to the decoration.

The apartment's location can hardly be beat. It is located in a beautiful building where Jean-Jacques Rousseau worked in a salon in the 18th Century. The Louvre, Les Halles, Centre Pompidou, and more are a 5-10 minute walk away. Châtelet/Les Halles metro stop is close by, making it easy to go anywhere around Paris. Saint Eustache is close enough that you can hear the bells every hour. Rue Montorgueil is about a block away, and it's one of the best streets in Paris, with amazing cafés, bars, grocery stores, and restaurants.

The owners were amazing. They live just downstairs, and were always available to help. When I had some issues with the shower, they fixed it almost immediately. When I wanted to get some extra utensils or anything for the apartment, they recommended many things nearby. When my girlfriend got scammed by locksmiths, they even called the shady company to argue and helped us report them to police. I have never had landlords this friendly, helpful, or amazing. I cannot overstate how wonderful they are.

The only complaints I can think of involve noise. Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau is fairly loud. As someone who liked having the window open, the noise could be troubling at times. Other small issues include the shower and toilet, which can be finicky, and the microwave oven, which functions well as a microwave but not so much as an oven. These are trivial, though, and should not deter anyone from staying here. Ignore the single negative review from a few years ago - it is completely false.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Literally all of my friends at university were jealous of me being able to land such an amazing place. Others who got cheaper places paid the difference in insane utility or repair costs, while others dealt with terrible landlords or were stuck across the city. This apartment truly felt like home for the 10 months I lived there, and I would love to come back to it at some point in the future.

We enjoyed having you as a tenant and we are glad that you liked the apartment, the building and the neighborhood.
We think that the street noise you are referring to may come from the works going on in the opposite building. We are going to suggest our next tenants to open the small window overlooking the hallway as well as the one just in front which looks out onto the courtyard (and Saint Eustache) in this hall instead of the window that gives onto the street, in order to diminish noise pollution during the works. Regarding the shower, it is a bit small but functional too, and there is nothing we can do about it! As for toilets, we are going to replace the lid to stabilize it. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Best regards,
Astrid and Vincent

This apartment was fantastic- close to supermarkets, cafes, museums, Velibs, bars- everything. The space is perfect for the price, and is sufficient to have a few friends over. Furniture is all new, and the decor is really nice. The owners are very kind and responsive, and live in the building should anything need immediate attention. When I come back to Paris, I will definitely try to stay here again.

This apartment is really lovely. It's obviously quite small but the available space is used very efficiently, with lots of shelves, baskets etc. You have everything you need for feeling "at home" immediately. Not only everything that's listed in the description (e.g. TV and DVD-player, toaster, ironing board, ..) but moreover lots of little things like e.g. decoration (candles, beautiful picture of Paris) and a collection of books and DVDs.

The location of the studio is also perfect, as it says in the description you can reach all the important metro and RER lines from Chatelet/Les Halles which is just a few minutes walk. I especially enjoyed the nearby Rue Montorgueil area, both for grocery shopping and for its nice bars and cafés.

Luckily I didn't experience any issues during my stay apart from a broken toaster which was replaced by the owners within one day and a problem with my Wifi which they fixed within just a few hours! As someone already pointed out, they live in the same building (which is by the way beautiful and very "Parisian") and were always incredibly kind and helpful whenever I had any questions.

I definitely recommend a stay in this studio and I hope to return there someday myself!

The apartment was perfect for 1 person, I have nothing to complain about the amenities etc. I have only positive things to say about this stay and specially about the owners, they are great.

The pictures of the studio that are displayed on NY Habitat website aren't accurate, some things aren't the same (the table, the couch, the curtains, etc).

During my stay the refrigerator and electric burners stopped working and the owners took over a week to get them repaired or buy new ones. Also, the fan in the bathroom was really loud and they were also slow to get it fixed (about a month and a half) and the chain in the toilet easily gets stuck.

Upon arrival, the studio wasn't very clean and some things were missing in the kitchen. For example, there was only a tiny frying pan. This isn't an issue for short stays, but in my case for a year, I had to buy more utensils.

Aside from that, the owners are pleasant and friendly. They're also quite accessible because they live right below; the problem is that they are very busy people and usually go out of town for the weekend or on vacation and if there's an issue, it's very difficult to get it resolved.

I would have needed a reduction in the rental price to compensate for all of the issues I encountered during my stay: not having a refrigerator for a week or electric burners for 10 days, the noisy fan, mice (I had to call the property manager to come and set traps and had to spend money on poison).

Regarding the location, it couldn't be any better; the neighborhood is lively and very safe. It's also easily accessible thanks to the buses, subways, and trains.

We have rented this studio for over 12 years and have never had any problems similar to those described by our guest.

It was indeed very unfortunate that both the fridge and the hotplates broke during her stay, however we replaced them as quickly as we could (in both cases we had to make a special order) and had it delivered within a week. We also changed the fan in the bathroom, even if not broken, as she felt it made too much noise. We were never informed that any kitchen equipment was lacking.

Since then all key utensils (plates, pans, bowls etc) have been replaced. The studio is cleaned by a cleaning lady for over 4 hours each time a new guest takes over the studio. When Helena took over the studio, it had just undergone a complete paint renovation and had new curtains, a new table, a new HDTV, a new Blu-ray/DVD player and a new high speed cable internet which explains why the pictures on the site were not fully up to date.

The pictures will be changed before we rent the studio again. The guest never expressed any concern about the cleanliness of the studio upon arrival. She even extended her rent for more than 3 months because she was happy with the place. We supported her to our best abilities, guiding her for example to our doctor, dentist and emergency room when she requested.

We are sorry that she didn't have an entirely satisfactory experience and we hope she enjoyed her stay in Paris anyway.

The apartment was great-- it was everything we expected it to be. We had no problems with the apartment and the owner was extremely nice and helpful. She welcomed us to Paris and gave us tips and helpful information. The apartment is in a great location (Louvre, Paris) - couldn't have been better.

We highly recommend this apartment and we would definitely stay there again.
