One bedroom in the garden apartment of a townhouse in Harlem
|
This one bedroom is located in Harlem along a tree-lined block of 129th street between Madison and Fifth Avenue. The street has one large community garden including one maintained by the owner of this unit. The apartment is quite spacious at 1250 square feet and offers its own backyard garden. The apartment has been recently renovated.
The entry to the apartment is down three stairs to the garden level.
The living room is spacious at a bit over 300 square feet. The room has two large windows, which face out to the street, a large queen sized sleeper sofa and a TV connected to cable. The room also has an antique pinball machine that does not operate for decoration.
The next room is the bedroom, which is separated from the living room and kitchen by a pocket doors. During the day you can leave them open to make a big walk through space and at night close them to create private rooms. The bedroom has a nice queen sized bed, a desk (the computer will not be there), but high-speed Internet access is available. There is a window, which faces out to the side of the building. There is a large walk in closet in the bedroom.
The kitchen is another large room and is eat-in. There is a nice table, which easily seats 6 people. There is a large decorative fireplace, which was at one time used as the cooking hearth. The kitchen includes 2-euro style fridges, freezer, a full range, a coffee maker, a toaster and a blender. There is a full set of dishes, utensils, pots and pans.
The kitchen leads out to the backyard, which is private for this apartment. The yard has a large area of grass and several plantings. There is a large shade tree in the back.
The bathroom is well designed. There are two entry doors one from the entry hallway and one from the bedroom so that people sleeping in the living room do not have to go through the bedroom to get to the bathroom. The bathroom's style is industrial. It has cement walls and floors. There is a large shower, a W/C and a sink with vanity.
The neighborhood is a work in progress. There are many houses in the area, which are being renovated. New shops and restaurants continue to open. The location is ideal for enjoying attractions in Mid-Town and Downtown. The 4,5,6 trains at Lexington Ave and 125th street offer service to the east side. 42nd street is just 2 stops away. The 2,3 express off service to the west side and 42nd street is just 5 stops away. Midtown on both subways can be reached in 15 minutes or less.
