One bedroom with breathtaking Northern views

LOCATION: New York City-Union Square.
SIZE: One bedroom, one full bathroom with an area of approximately 700 square feet. Ideally suited for one or two people.
BUILDING: A large 1964 apartment building with 495 units, typical for New York City at the time. The apartment faces north, away from the hustle and bustle of 14th Street, the longest east-west thoroughfare in Manhattan. There is a 24-hour doorman for security and to admit visitors. There are both drop-off and coin-operated laundry facilities in the building, and a commercially run garage for off-street parking.
INTERIOR: This 18th floor apartment has wonderful views of the New York skyline: turn of the century skyscrapers, modern additional and an uncountable number of iconic wooden water towers. The furniture is a mix of Scandinavian finds from the flea market and mid-century American. There are many vintage maps and pictures of New York through the years. The kitchen has a 60s-era stainless steel stove and oven, a dishwasher and chef's-quality pots and pans. There are place settings for six and Norwegian flatware. The living room has an extendable dining table, a fold out queen size sofa bed, a TV with hundreds of channels, a DVD player and stereo. The bedroom has blinds to block out light to allow for sleep during the day. The bathroom has a tub and shower combo. Towels and linens are provided. Central heating and air conditioning are provided.
NEIGHBORHOOD: Union Square is one of the most vibrant and desirable areas of Manhattan, literally in the center of it all. Located right where Greenwich Village blends into the East Village, where Gramercy Park and Chelsea meet the Flatiron District, where Downtown begins and Midtown ends. From the apartment SoHo is a 15-minute walk, and the Empire State Building is 20 minutes up 5th Avenue. There are several off-Broadway theaters nearby and New York's largest green market, open 4 days a week.
SERVICES: The Union Square subway station, the third busiest in the city, is steps away. Bus lines are just outside the door, as are cinemas, NYU, the New School, and a bowling alley. WholeFoods, gourmet markets, outdoor cafes and some of the finest restaurants in the city are in the neighborhood. Taxis are easily hailed in front of the building. There is DSL access in the apartment.
EMERGENCY: Police, fire and ambulance: 911. The St Vincent's and Beth Israel Hospitals are located nearby.
