Description
Alcove Studio Apartment in Bastille, Le Marais - Notre Dame - Hôtel de Ville (PA-3525)
Alcove Studio, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps

Neighborhood:

Located between Rue Saint-Antoine and Rue de la Bastille, this furnished alcove studio apartment is next to the royal Place des Vosges, famous and hailed for the harmony of its architecture. It is also where the French novelist Victor Hugo lived from 1832 to 1848 (at number 6); it is still possible to visit his apartment and the room where he wrote his novels (especially Les Misérables). Built under Henry IV, the singular Place des Vosges was first called Place Royale, as it was the heart of an aristocratic district where the rebellious nobles flouted Richelieu's ban for duel fights. It is part of the special atmosphere enclosing the lively and historical Marais area with its substantial number of points of interest such as museums, art galleries, design shops, and diverse, trendy bars and restaurants. In walking distance are the Seine River with its two delectable islands -- Ile de la Cite and Ile Saint Louis -- and the Hotel de Ville (city hall).

In the neighborhood are a number of traditional restaurants, cafes, and open-air markets such as the one on Place d’Aligre, and a second one on Rue Richard Lenoir. All other services are easily found in the neighborhood. There are numerous cinemas in the area.

Just steps away is the Rue de la Roquette, mostly frequented by young people. The heart of this area is the historic Place de la Bastille, symbol of the French Republic. Built during the 14th century as a fortified royal residence, it is the most famous monument in Paris. The new Opéra House is nearby and considered one of the best operas in the world; it was inaugurated at the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Premises:

This 37m² (approx. 395 sq. ft.) alcove studio apartment is located on the second floor of a 20th century building with an elevator. The entrance gate, protected by a coded security system, opens into a hall where a second gate also has a coded security system; this leads to the staircase and elevator area.

The apartment entrance opens into a small hall that links the separate kitchen and the living room. The living room is divided into two parts, the living area and the dining area with a bedroom recess. The separate bathroom is accessible from the living room.

The 15m² (approx. 160 sq. ft.) living room has a window overlooking a courtyard and is furnished with a double-size sofa, a coffee maker, a chest of drawers with a TV, a DVD player and a stereo.

The 15m² (approx. 160 sq. ft.) dining area with its bedroom recess has a window overlooking a courtyard and is furnished with a dining table and chairs, a double-size bed, a bedside table, a bookshelf and a closet.

The separate kitchen has a window and is equipped with two electric plates, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster and a kettle. There is also a small dining table with chairs.

The separate bathroom has a bathtub topped by a showerhead, a washbasin, a towel dryer and a toilette. There is also a combo washing machine/dryer.

Heat and hot water are collective.

From: France,
Apartment Rental: 3 months

The apartment is very well located and furnished.
The sun never gets directly in, so the apartment is dark. The walls and the floor are very thin, so the apartment is very noisy and you don't have much privacy since you can even hear what the neighbors say.
Dealing with the host was always very unpleasant, always doing the minimum he said he would. On top of that it was very difficult to get him to refund our deposit we gave a guarantee, moreover, it's already nearly two months and he still hasn't returned the deposit, nor does he answer our emails.

Alejandrina,
For 10 years, my tenants have been satisfied with the service I give them. So I am sorry about your review despite all the efforts I put into meeting your needs. To ensure you had a comfortable stay and as an exception, I kindly supplied items so you could have beddings in 2 separate rooms: sheets, a duvet, an under-sheet, a blackout curtain. I also had to hire a professional cleaning lady after your departure to guarantee a high level of comfort and cleanliness in the apartment for the next renters. I am sorry it took me a little time to send the security deposit. I wanted to be sure about the exact amount and had to wait for the cost of the cleaning service. Besides, the apartment is on the 2nd floor and overlooks a very quiet courtyard, there's no particular noise.
