Exceptional one bedroom in the Pope's City
|
This one bedroom / one bathroom apartment is on the 1st French floor of a beautiful building dating from the 15-16th Centuries. The apartment has been totally renovated and refurbished in 2002. All the tiles of the floor have been chosen with attention, the old stone walls were entirely renovated: the character of the accommodation has been tastefully preserved. The apartment provides modern facilities even though the place remains authentic. This accommodation is available for 3-4 people maximum for weekly or monthly rentals throughout the year (except during the month of July).
The lounge is furnished with a sofa bed, a lounge table, a dining table seating 4, and an antique dresser. There are two east exposed windows. For your entertainment, you may enjoy a cabled TV with DVD, VCR and a stereo system with CD player.
A DSL internet connection is available.
The fully fitted open kitchen has is equipped with a stove, electric induction hotplates, a microwave, a coffee maker, a toaster, an electric water heater, a refrigerator / freezer and a dishwasher.
The bedroom is off the lounge. It has a double size bed, an east-exposed window, a closet and a mezzanine. The en-suite bathroom has a bathtub / shower, a sink and water closet.
All linens are provided. Two hours of cleaning service is also provided once a week.
Parking space can be provided at an extra charge.
The apartment is located one block from the main street of Avignon known as Rue de la République. The train station of Avignon center is 100 meters away. Restaurants, cafés and shops are everywhere. Avignon -also known as the Popes' city- has a wealthy historical and artistic heritage. Its formidable stronghold Popes' Palace overlooks the wide expanse of the Rhone River plain and the encircled city. If you want to see one of the most beautiful views of Avignon and its famous uncompleted bridge, you should go the island of Barthelasse. This large island formerly was a refuge for outlaws and deserters in the past centuries. The exceptional view over the city is best admired at sunset; many paintings and etchings have been made of it.
The closest expressway is the A9, exit Remoulins, 15 minutes drive away, or the A7 exit Avignon North or South. The A9 goes from the Spanish border to Orange. The A7 binds the Italian border to Lyon with connections for all major cities of the south east of France. Avignon train station is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes! The closest airport is in Avignon as well with 4 daily domestic flights from/to Paris. Most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
