This studio apartment is in the basement of a lovely house in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, New York. On Marlborough Road & Beverly Road, this home is on a calm residential area, with tree-lined streets and elegant historic residences from the Victorian era. You’ll be able to take advantage of the shared facilities, including the fitness and laundry rooms, as well as the lovely backyard—during the summer months. There is a lockbox available for check-in and checkout key drop-offs as well as complimentary wireless internet access throughout the property.
To enter the air-conditioned studio, take the stairs down to the front door, which opens into the living area. It is furnished with a vintage flair, including a pull-out couch, and a regular queen-size bed, as well as an armchair, dresser, floor lamp, and side table. You can watch cable TV or movies, using the flat-screen TV and DVD player. There is an open kitchenette, where you can prepare your meals, and then sit down to enjoy them at the wooden-dining table, which seats four guests. Please note that there is no stove available, but that there are two electric burners. The bathroom is equipped with a shower stall, a sink with a storage cabinet, and a WC. Linens and towels are provided upon arrival. At the back end of the apartment, is a storage room, where you can place all of your belongings. Since this apartment is located in the basement, it can be dark at certain times of the day.
Flatbush is an area of Brooklyn that comprises several neighborhoods and therefore has a lot of character. Because of its diversity, not only will you get the opportunity to meet people from various backgrounds, but you will also get to enjoy the ethnic cuisines at specialized restaurants, from Filipino to Tibeten. Try The Farm on Adderly, known for its brunches and collaboration with local artisans and entrepreneurs, Purple Yam, popular for its delectable Pan-Asian meals, and Mimi’s Hummus, which serves a variety of dishes with influences from Israel, Morrocco, and the Kurdish region of Iraq! They are all located on Cortelyou Road less than .3 miles (550m) away. Support organic farmers and socially responsible companies, by shopping for produce and other items at the Flatbush Co-Op (right around the corner), open 7 days a week. Just half-a-mile (800m) north is Prospect Park, which aside from being the perfect spot for relaxing and engaging in outdoor sports, is also home to the Cherry Esplanade, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Prospect Park Zoo, and the Brooklyn Public Library!
Obviously, there is much to see and do in Flatbush. But if you’d like to commute to other parts of NYC, catch the Q train at the Beverley Road / East 16 Street and Cortelyou Road / East 16 Street stations, both within a 2-block radius (about 250m maximum), or walk a little further (7 blocks/1km) to the Church Avenue / East 18 Street station, which runs on the B and Q lines. You can go from Manhattan to Coney Island with these trains!
Please note that there is a train that runs near the apartment and can be heard throughout the day, though less frequently during nighttime hours.
