Fond of prewar charm? This simple courtyard-side studio apartment has plenty of it! Simply furnished, this Midtown rental offers a vintage feel with an arched opening and black and white checkered bathroom floors. The door to the apartment is opened by key code combination rather than a key, and there is a buzzer system for guest entry. This is an older pre-war building in New York City, and the age is evident in some of the characteristics of the floors and windows, but is well maintained and constant improvements are being made.
The apartment is on the 2nd floor (considered 1st by Europeans) of the walk-up building. Three closets greet you near the entrance to the apartment, where you find yourself in the basic open kitchen. There is a compact oven and small fridge with a freezer compartment, as well as a microwave and coffee maker. A bistro style table provides space for meals.
The main room has a queen size bed situated near the two windows, as well as a single size sofa bed facing a flat screen TV. An air conditioning unit is available in this bedroom. The windows look away from the street, over a courtyard area.
This studio is conveniently located near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 52nd Street, in Midtown East, part of central Manhattan, New York. Midtown is home to many iconic NYC attractions that populate the skyline, such as the United Nations Headquarters, the Seagram Building, Rockefeller Center and the Citycorp Center. Of course, it is also not far (.8mi/1.4km) from Central Park or the East River (.4mi/600m), both popular choices for enjoying the outdoors. Inside tip: take the Roosevelt Island Tram (2nd Avenue & East 60th Street) as the sun is setting for unforgettable views of the skyline!
Just around the corner from the apartment on 2nd Avenue are plenty of conveniences, such as a Food Emporium Supermarket between 51st and 52nd Streets and a variety of bars, pubs and lounges that contribute to an exciting nightlife scene. Check out The Smith for American style eats and cocktails (2 blocks/160m) or Solera (2 blocks/300m) for Spanish tapas and wine.
The subway is not far from the apartment, the nearest entrance is just 2 blocks away on 3rd Avenue and East 53rd (about 260m), and serves line 6 and the M train.
Please note: The floors in some of the units in this building have a minor slant.
Please also note that the heating system is radiator steam which can cause loud clanging when in use during the cold season.

We were very happy for our apartment and everything worked fine. There was only one problem which was bedbugs. Our landlord's assistant took care of them twice but they still keep appearing. |

The apartment is average - the bed was so-so, the building and apartment are both extremely old and appear to have had little done to them in terms of upkeep. The movable lamp was missing a light bulb and there was no extra toilet paper. The kitchen was minimally stocked to the point that had the tenant wanted to use the oven, she likely would have had to buy a disposable aluminum tray to cook in. |

We appreciate your review and regret that you did not have the most comfortable time at this apartment. |

Dear Sarah, we put a light bulb in the movable lamp; we are putting 2-3 additional paper rolls and added more cook ware. |
