The landlord lady is not very friendly. She found different excuses trying to increase additional payment. The apartment is not as clean as she promised. There are mouse and cockroaches. There is also a backyard as she mentioned in the description but we are not able to use them. When we moved out, we did an exclusive cleaning and two of landlords' friends came and checked and said we really cleaned the house but the owner refused to be believe that and tried to deduct our deposit and accused us of stealing her pillowcases. In the around half a year term stay, we were accused of breaking a glass( the window in kitchen fell down accidently and hurt my roommates leg and it turned out the lock of the window is too old to hold things together but she still charges us the money and blame us for the damage and because the repairman came in delay, we got the glass fixed after two weeks while NYC is in the raining season), stealing her pillowcases(she blame that on us but later she found the pillowcases in the closet, we never used her linens yet she found a way to use them against us) and even the light that doesn't work on the first day we moved in can be seen as our fault as the owner believed she had done a lot and it can't be her fault. This is the worst renting experience so far in my entire life. The owner is in France and she would fly to NYC without any notice and demand to come into the apartment. Even after she gave back our deposit and she declared the termination of our contract, she is still contacting us and claiming that there are fee that she forgot to charge. I am so tired of this and I'll surely avoid renting from a private owner again. |

Daoheng - I saw your review as a long-term landlord with NY habitat who has never had any report like that, they were concerned and have given me the benefit of the doubt. |

I stayed in this Apartment for 4 months and was very happy overall. The kitchen has all the appliances we needed, including a washer and dryer. Air-conditioning in summer was great. There is even a back yard garden that is private and peaceful. The location was great for my work. There are major subway stops (M,E & 7) within one and two blocks. The neighborhood is safe, quiet and has convenient shopping. Vernon and Jackson has some of NYC's best restaurants including Michelin Star restaurants. Long Island City is NYC's new and up and coming neighborhood. I loved staying there and when I return I hope this place is available.. |
