Very nicely welcomed by the landlady. Very clean and functional apartment. Good location in a popular and changing neighborhood. Stores in the vicinity. No problem at all!

We really loved the apartment and the location. It's near to the subway stations so you have excellent access to the highlights of Manhatan and other must see sites of NYC. Everything was almost perfect for us. The check in was smooth and efective, so also the check out. Mrs Claire did everything to make us feel at home.
The only thing we might suggest, is an upgrading of the furniture.
Next time we visit NYC, we certainly will contact New York Habitat to make sure they will help us to rent this particular apartment.

The landlady was very discreet, we only met her at the end of our stay. She works just below the apartment, we thought she would be available for us if needed. The place is 5 minutes from the subway and 30 minutes from Downtown Manhattan. Minimarket is nearby. Quiet neighborhood.
The only drawback is that there is no shutter!! (on the face of it, very little Americans have one) I would recommend it for families.

The apartment was all that we had expected from the advertisement and previous reviews. It is a great location to give you that real New York/Brooklyn experience, it is conveniently located with all necessary amenities and services within 5 minutes walk. We could not have been happier with the service or the apartment and would happily recommend it to couples.

Superb vacation rental, very well located (subway line close by with easy access to Manhattan as well as direct access to JFK airport).

Very pleasant neighborhood.

Quiet and spacious apartment located in a pleasant Brooklyn neighborhood. A haven of peace to recharge your batteries after spending the day in Manhattan.

To be improved: the kitchen ventilation (especially the oven) which sets the fire alarm off at awkward moments (I informed the host).

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment. The subway is a 5-minute walk. The neighborhood is very pleasant.

The hostess waived the security deposit on the spot because we didn't have enough cash with us. On top of that, she has her law firm in the building next door and is always ready to answer questions.

We would rent this apartment again in a heartbeat.

I've generally stayed in hotels in past visits to New York so this was a different experience for me. The accommodation was certainly good value for money when compared to staying in a hotel and it was also nice to have your own space to cook and eat meals which saved having to eat out all the time.

The apartment is close to the subway and bus routes so it was easy for me to travel to Manhattan and even further afield when I needed to although there's plenty to see in Brooklyn itself.

The owner was very easy to contact by email and was also usually physically close by should any problems have arisen. I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends/relatives should they by in New York in the future.

Apartment was well presented with all we required. It was a very safe area close to the subway restaurants and store.

In the past we have stayed in Manhattan so it was good to experience a different part of New York. The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful who met us when we arrived to provide us with useful info.

Thoroughly recommend this apartment and host.

Regards Kerry

PS The smoke alarm may need to be adjusted as it went off a couple of times when we used the oven just to heat up some food.

This vacation rental is perfect for a family. The size, the location off the hustle of the city and the good subway connection are ideal. We had a lot of fun and we thank Miss Claire, our hostess, who treated us with great attention and trust.

Best regards and happy new year.

Apartment in a good location and close to subway and shops. The apartment lacks a drying rack where you can put the towels to dry during the day.

I'm so glad the apartment's location suited Bernard's needs. There are parts of Brooklyn that are a stone's throw away from Manhattan that also have their own charm and appeal. I feel that our neighborhood, Clinton Hill, is one of those places.

It is unfortunate but perhaps the guest overlooked the fact that there was a towel rack in the bathroom as well as a hook on the bathroom door.

The apartment was great. We'd rent it again. Very comfortable and nicely appointed. The owner was also friendly and accommodating. She gave us tips for shopping and sightseeing.

Positive: the location, the price and the neighborhood
Negative: the apartment is not ideally soundproofed. For example, you can hear the planes very well.

Otherwise, there is absolutely nothing negative to say.

Thank you for your review, Josefina. I am glad you would rent our apartment again.

The week of your visit there was a lot of air activity because of a safety threat; this was an unusual circumstance. The apartment is located in a pre-war carriage house of solid construction and is basically impenetrable.

Previous guests have expressed to me that one of the things that made their stay memorable was the fact that they could get deep rest after a long day of sightseeing and touring because of the solitude.

Great apartment exactly like on the photos, well equipped and clean, small yard outside. A 3 minute walk from the subway station, 15 min from downtown Manhattan and 35 minl. from the beach. Perfect for young visitors and for families alike.

We were welcomed by the owner's sister who is very welcoming and helpful. Same with the owner, she gave us great tips on things to do. The owner speaks French and Spanish.

Hello,
It is absolutely necessary to change the sagging sofa bed mattress in the living area! I should point out that Claire, the owner, is very nice and attentive to her guests' needs;

Answer by: Accommodation Owner

The sofa bed has a memory foam topper. It is indeed less comfortable than the high-quality mattress in the bedroom, because this is a regular bed. Furthermore, I provide an air mattress, but both this and the sofa bed are intended as short-term sleeping solutions only, while the regular bed is meant for everyday use over extended periods.

Very pleasant, very clean apartment, well located in a quiet neighborhood and near the subway but there isn't quite enough flatware (only 3 tea spoons, 4 forks, 4 knives and 4 table spoons).

Owner is welcoming and helpful. Very high quality bathroom linens.

Aug 01 2012

Thank you. Had service for four because apartment is set up for only four individuals. Did not know teaspoon was missing. Will replace and provide more. There were also only three guests so I don't see why the missing spoon was a problem. Sorry it wasn't brought to my attention while they were here. I would have corrected the situation immediately.

My guests are always told at the beginning to let me know what I can do to make their stay more enjoyable.

Even more than the apartment, we loved its location: two blocks from a shopping street with an atmosphere that is a mix of trendy and quiet / relaxing, both!

The owner left appropriate information for us such as the special "not for tourists" NY guide!! and a guide to the neighborhood's quality restaurants.

The subway is a few steps away as is Brooklyn's big "PROSPECT PARK" (same designers as for Central Park). Just a few subway stations away: NY Philharmonic Orchestra and adjacent quality botanic garden.

Excellent location, quiet neighborhood, nice appartment, friendly people. The owner was really helpful.

"Aita", a new beautiful, small restaurant has been opened just next door - excellent, reasonably priced food.
And if you like alternatives for Manhattan shopping, there is a big flee market near by every Saturday.

Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, we strongly recommend.

We were two couples sharing this vacation rental. The bed in the bedroom is perfect, the sofa-bed mattress can't be used on its own but the host provides an extra mattress that you can put on top of the old mattress. We slept very well on it.

The kitchen equipment is adequate for 4. You have to be careful when opening the cupboard doors, as they are not brand new. Can't possibly do the washing-up in the kitchen as we only got a trickle. The kitchen is open onto the sitting room, that's great.

The sofa is very comfortable. The television is big and works perfectly. We would have liked to be able to listen to the radio. The bathroom is perfect, the water is lovely and hot, the pressure is good, the toilet is clean. I was glad to have a powerful hairdryer. The bathroom towels that are provided are very clean.

The host is very nice. She works on the floor below but is not intrusive at all. If there is an issue, it is nice to have to close by.

The accommodation is located a 5 minute walk from the subway that takes you directly to Manhattan in 15 to 20 minutes. The neighborhood is very quiet and you can come and go at any time of the night. We had an excellent stay.

I am thankful for this feedback. I wish the guests had brought these issues to my attention so I had the opportunity to address them during the rental.

The guests who came after these guests mentioned the low water pressure to me and it was fixed. It was a clog in the faucet filter. The closet cabinet door needed the hinge tightened. There is no radio and I don't intend to provide one.

I started renting this apartment in April 2010 and purchased the sofa bed from a high end store that same month. It is not the same quality as a regular mattress. I try to compensate for the difference by providing a high quality memory foam topper.

I work really hard at providing high quality accommodations to my guests and assuring guests that they can contact me anytime during their stay with their concerns.

The vacation rental is very well located in Brooklyn, which enables you to discover and experience this residential and lesser-known neighborhood. Shops and subway close by. The accommodation is ideal for 4, bright, spacious. The bedroom looks over a small private garden, so it is quiet.

The landlady is friendly and helpful. Manhattan is a 20-minute trip on the subway with the C line. That's great. It is a good place.

This vacation rental is ideally situated a few steps from the subway (C line, 20 to 25 min to Manhattan depending on where you want to go) and from shops. It is spacious, with a sober and personalized decoration. You can easily put all your belongings and suitcases away in the closets.

After Manhattan bustle, it is really pleasant to enjoy a quiet and restful place. Just one downside: the equipment. It is a bit tight in terms of cutlery and dishware, there's no tea pot, and above all the sofa bed mattress is very uncomfortable for two people of an average weight.

The welcome was not exceptional and our contacts with the owner who has her office just below were very brief. No documentation is provided on NYC or Brooklyn (which is very nice and worth discovering). Apart from these comments in our view it was excellent.

The vacation rental is in a very good location in a safe and quiet residential area of Brooklyn. It is close to all facilities (bar, restaurant, subway, bank and shops less than 200 m away). Good connections to Manhattan with the subway (very safe).

The apartment is clean, chic and well designed for a family of 4 to 5. Only the sofa bed mattress is a bit thin for adults.

The owner is delightful, available and accommodating. It is an excellent place that I highly recommend for a stay in NYC.

Very quiet and yet central location - Clinton/Washington subway station nearby. Good shopping facilities - supermarket. Very good and quick support from the contact person in the office in next door building. Landlady was very friendly, accommodating and of good advice.

All the necessary equipment is available in the apartment / kitchen and is in perfect working condition. In the kitchen, we would like to have: table mats for hot pots, a chopping board for fruit and vegetables, a teapot, basic supply of sugar, salt and pepper.

This was our first time in Brooklyn and we were VERY happy. Would prefer Manhatten but only to save time, but this is not a big issue, as the subway was quite fast. It seemed the cleaning fee was charged autoamtically, and this could have been made clear in the original deatils. We are quite used to this arrangement from Europe, but got the impression this time that the fee would only be charged if we were dirty/untidy etc. That was clearly not the owner's view, and we did not dispute this, as we were so happy with the apartmnet that an extra $50 did not matter.

Thank you so much for your wonderful ratings and review, Keith! We are delighted to hear how happy you were with your New York vacation rental! Thank you also for pointing out the cleaning fee. This shows that the way it was included in the documents so far was not clear enough so we have made the necessary changes for the future. We hope you enjoyed exploring Brooklyn during your stay.

I have rented several NY Habitat properties and this is by far the best experience. This is the first one that I believe the cleaning fee is actually used for cleaning; not a spec of dust. The linens and towels are top notch; the furniture/carpet are new and make sense(and not a hodge podge of throwaways); and the apartment is so comfortable it's like being home (not too mention all the premium cable channels.

Most important, the owner is extremely cordial, and was there to greet me and check me out on time. By far, my best NY Habitat experience!

Excellent location in beautifull and quiet neighbourhood close to subway, shopping and restaurants. Subwaytrain takes you to Manhatten en 15 min. The apartment is spacious, newly painted, nicely furnished, very light and clean. Sweet neighbour. Great service and welcome from owner.

The owner has an office downstairs and was most helpfull with any question we had. We will defenitly come again and we will recommend the apartment to everyone.
