Quaint apartment with 3 bedrooms, which is not common. It is located in a quiet street covered with flowers.
Great welcome from the owners who live on the premises.
A/C was a real plus because it was very hot in New York.
Ideal location to explore Brooklyn and with quick access Manhattan.

Suggestions for improvement:
A little more communication before arrival.
Add a washing machine?!
Update the A/C for the noise

Delighted with our stay, ideal for a family, we highly recommend this accommodation!

Thank you Stephane fro your review. I am happy to hear you recommend our 3 bedroom apartment for families!

As far as communication before arrival we send one email to guests regarding their flight time and that someone will be home to complete the check in. If a guest has any further questions or concerns I answer that in the email.

Unfortunately, if we add a washing machine we would loose lots of cabinet storage in the kitchen and have to raise the rental price to accommodate the extra water and gas being used.

The air-conditioning machine used is one of the best rated A/C units at Best Buy. At night sometimes peoples cars can make unexpected noise while driving down the block and we find the A/C drowns this noise out.

Location away from the most well-known neighborhoods in Brooklyn but the proximity of the subway stations makes up for it.
Typical accommodation, clean, well equipped, located in a street that was named the greenest street in Brooklyn thanks to the residents' commitment.
Stores and restaurants nearby open late at night.
Very warm welcome from the hosts who live downstairs.

Very nicely welcomed by Perri.
Apartment is located very close to Nostrand Avenue subway station (line 3) and President Street (line 2).
It takes about 25-30 minutes to reach Downtown Manhattan.
Many stores in the area.
Apartment is in keeping with its description. You will be amazed by the beautiful flowers and plants in front of the house.
The street won the the Brooklyn greenest block prize.

Apartment is spacious enough for 5. Bedding is quite comfortable. On the whole, the apartment was rather clean. It is quiet and very well-located with all the necessary convenient stores. The landlady is lovely and very welcoming.

We felt the accommodation was very nice and cozy. We were out in Manhattan a lot to visit things so it was very relaxing to come back to. The hosts are extremely kind and friendly and had even bought a couple of things like fruit, breakfast etc for our arrival.

Access to the subway is very good, about a 3-minute walk. The only thing that we felt was a small downside: the middle room which is the main common room (e.g. for meals) has no window (except for a stained glass skylight) and therefore little light.

For a limited period of time though you can easily adapt to it.

Thank you for the review it was a pleasure having you and your family. Yes unfortunately the only natural light in the living room is the skylight that you can open.

All the homes on the block do not have a window in the middle room and most people had their skylight removed. We decided to keep ours so you can get some natural sun light.

The apartment was a little further than we'd imagined but matched the description. It was a bit oldish and there was no air conditioning. There wasn't much privacy between bedrooms (separated by glass doors)

Still I have a quite favorable opinion. We received a nice welcome and the apartment was very functional.

Hi Eric, thank you for the review. The glass doors have curtains. Another guest complained about the same issue. Next guest I will show how to pull it down.

When you mean oldish you mean Brownstone built in the 1800's with original woodwork & hardwood floors. Yes we did have an issue with the A/C but next summer that will not be an issue.

The ad said there was A/C but there wasn't. We were in New York when it was extremely hot. The day before we left we told the owner about it and he said the A/C cost $10 a night. That wasn't specified in the ad. The unit was in a closet and we hadn't seen it.

When we arrived, the dusting wasn't done, the table cloths were stained.

In the kitchen, there was a drawer that was full of junk (things that had nothing to do in the kitchen). In the closet where we were supposed to find toiletries, we could find all sorts of things (household products etc).

It wasn't tidy at all.

Another thing was that the apartment couldn't be locked. You could only lock it from the inside. But when we went out the apartment was open.

Despite that our stay went very smoothly. The hosts are very kind, very helpful to give tourist tips or have a chat outside. We're still very happy with our stay.

If the place was a bit improved, I would even recommend this vacation rental to my friends.

I do thank the family for choosing our rental during the duration of your stay in New York City but I do not appreciate negative reviews because of a misunderstanding about the air conditioning unit.

On meeting you, you were quite charming, hospitable, and eager to see the sights of New York City. You never complained of anything regarding the household, I live on the first floor & you were on the third floor I did see you daily.

During their stay, you complimented me on the furnishings, the cook ware, the cleanliness and easy access to travel and to the local grocery stores in our area. I also provided city travel maps for you as you were eager to see Manhattan and the other boroughs.

You availed yourselves of the washing machine, the air conditioner, and the entire top floor of my home. Yes its true the portable air conditioning was in the closet but when I checked you in I told you if you need anything or have any problems to come downstairs or send me an email (which ever is easier).

When you departed, I called the taxi for you, helped you with your luggage and wished you a safe trip home. Your parting words were; "We had a wonderful time. thank you so much for your hospitality." your review really surprised me.

I was also surprised by this review as every other evaluation up to this point has been pretty good. However, we do appreciate your feedback and we have added locks to the apartment doors to improve security.

Thank you for your review Georges! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay overall.

Your feedback was extremely helpful to us. We have updated our information to include the $10 per night charge for use of the AC.

We have also confirmed with the owner that locks have been added to all of the apartment doors.

A well equipped and clean apartment. Good location near a subway station, quite a long ride into Manhattan(40mins), great place to stay if you want to be out of the bustle of Manhattan.

We had problems with the Wi-Fi, not sorted before we left but hopefully will be! Charming and helpful hosts. Comfortable beds, suitable for a family as all the rooms are connected.

Hi Victoria once again we apologize about the wifi issue We were having wifi issues due to our service company which was out of our hands there was nothing personally we could do about it.

However, we did have a technician come to our home and fix the problem. It was a pleasure having you and your family stay with us.

The apartment is in a brownstone home and the French doors open for less privacy or you can close them for complete privacy.

The bedding was great. The hostess was very welcoming. A few kitchen utensils were lacking for us, such as a coffee pot, and she gave them to us. The cable didn't work very well. We only had 3 basic channels.

The apartment is very quiet, fine for 4 or 5 people. It is a period house, so it's not for someone looking for something luxurious.

It is very close to Manhattan (a quick journey), very close to the subway and there are local stores close by. The hostess and her daughter are very hospitable. I'd quite positively recommend this vacation rental.

Hi Stephane,

We state that we have enough cooking utensils for basic cooking but we will look into updating a bit. The cable also is basic local channels about 10, we do ask that you move the antenna around for better picture quality.

It was a pleasure having you and your family as guests.

The accommodation is clean and cozy. The hosts were helpful. Compared with other neighborhoods, there aren't any shops in this one and the streets need cleaning.

The metro station is just next door and you can go to Manhattan without having to change trains.

We rented this apartment for our family of 4 for 4 nights during Thanksgiving. Perri and Simone's welcome was perfect, they are very flexible and discreet (they live downstairs). The vacation rental is located in a beautiful brownstone, typical of Brooklyn. Spacious, with a lot of charm, wooden floor, victorian windows and matching furniture.

The apartment is comfortable but could do with two more chairs for the dining table. The kitchen equipment is a bit basic: it's true that few tourists cook but we do. The building and the neighborhood are quiet, which is nice. No problem for parking the car. There are a few restaurants 3 blocks away.

The subway is 100 m away and it takes 35 minutes to reach Midtown Manhattan. It's a very good compromise between cost and value.
