Description
Studio Vacation in Fort Greene (NY-16024)
Studio, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps 2

Welcome to this vintage-style studio apartment in Fort Greene, Brooklyn! Decorated with charming antique accessories, this home matches its ultra-hipster neighborhood in design and essence. The community, near Clinton Hill and Prospect Heights, favors small shops and locally grown goods over high-end retailers and chain restaurants.

Sitting on Hall Street and Park Avenue, this studio apartment is located on the 1st floor (considered ground in Europe) of a 3-story prewar walk-up townhouse. It presents an ideal environment for travelers wishing to live as local Brooklynites, conveniently close to Manhattan while still sleeping in a residential, calmer and close-knit community.

The commodious studio includes hard wood floors and one full-sized bed with fresh linens. An old marble fireplace, antique dresser, and round wooden table decorate the space. A mirror from the 1930s hangs above the mantle. Contemporary artwork and convenient amenities lend the classic home a modern twist!

In the full-sized kitchen, a large wooden dining table accommodates at-home meals with family and friends. Upon request, furnishings may be rearranged to enhance privacy.

Students may find this accommodation convenient as it is walking distance from Pratt University and St. Joseph's College.

Fort Greene, Brooklyn is one of the trendiest areas of the city, boasting a large park, greenmarkets, a famous flea market, vegan-friendly restaurants, and vintage clothing shops. In Just Kids, musician and author, Patti Smith wrote about spending her first years in New York in this area, along with famed photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. A short ride via public transportation will take you to the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, and the art galleries of Williamsburg. Listed below are some suggestions of where to go in the area.

  • Farmer's Market: This year-round open greenmarket takes place every Saturday in the southeast corner of Fort Greene park. Be sure to pick up fresh and local fruits, veggies, and homemade goods! Located at Dekalb Avenue and Washington Park. Accessible via foot.
  • Brooklyn Flea: Shop at this popular flea market every weekend for vintage finds, home goods, and delicious food. Located at 1 Hanson Place. Accessible via foot.
  • Brooklyn Academy of Music: This famous live performance space is known for its avant-garde performances. It holds concerts of all kinds and includes a cinema. Located at 30 Lafayette Avenue. Accessible via foot or public transportation.

The nearest subway station serves the G  train at the Clinton-Washington stop on Lafayette Avenue, situated about 1/2 a mile south (approx 800m). This train runs north-south through Brooklyn, giving access to both Williamsburg and Park Slope, as well as connecting to other lines that run to Manhattan. Several buses also serves the area around this studio.

Hello!

Like I said to Mary, she was the most wonderfull host we could ever get. She was so nice with us. She makes all she can to make us feel like home, and she succeed. We really feel like home.
She let us our privacy but anytime we have a question or need something she is always there for us. I could only recommand her for every person who'd like to come in NYC.
Thanks to her our trip in NYC was perfect.
The appartment was really clean, quiet and comfy. We loved stay there.
Thanks again Mary for all the things you do for us.

The accommodation was exactly in keeping with what we had seen. Neatly decorated, felt like being home.
Carefully chosen and sufficient equipment.
And without mentioning her name, an owner who waited on us hand and foot, mindful of our well-being for a successfull vacation.

The studio apartment was very clean, spacious and comfortable for the two of us. We made full use of the kitchen which was well equipped and had everything you needed. The neighbourhood has a very good grocery store and an excellent local wine shop - all at the end of the road. The owner was fantastic to deal with and could not of been anymore helpful - we were very well taken care of!!
