Description
Bed and Breakfast in Avignon, Provence (PR-136)
2 Bedrooms - Maison de Village, 2 Bathrooms - Sleeps

This wonderful home stay is located in a small street of the Saint-Lazare district of Avignon. The owner has the whole house and receive guests all year long.

Two guest rooms with private bathrooms are available. They both accommodate a couple. Breakfasts are included in the rent and may be served either in the dining room or in an unexpected and private courtyard, under an arbor covered by a spectacular wisteria.

You enter the building through a small hall with a staircase leading to the different floors of the house. On the ground floor, the entrance door leads to the garden level of the house where the living room, the kitchen, the dining room, and a guest bathroom are.

If you go on the second floor another door leads to the library and to the guest bedrooms.

Ground floor :

The living room has an ancient stone fireplace, a sofa, a lounge table, some armchairs and cushions, as well as Antique pieces of furniture. A large bay window looking onto the courtyard provides light in the whole room. This secluded and secret garden hosts many climbing plants such as a sweet smelling jasmine and different species of flowers.

The kitchen is separated from the dining area by a large counter. Breakfast can be served in this dining area, which is furnished with a rectangular glass table and dressers with plates, dishes and tablecloth, or under the arbor. No other meals than breakfasts are served.

Second floor :

A library with wall-to-wall carpet and cushions on the floor is off the bedrooms. Guests are welcome to watch TV or read peacefully.

- The "Saphir" room has blue-painted walls and two windows overlooking the courtyard. Unfortunately we couldn't take any pictures as the owner was doing some major renovations. The private bathroom is decorated in a Moroccan style with white tiled walls and blue mosaics : it has a stall shower, a double sink with mirror and WC.

- The "Parme" room is the one that you will see on our pictures, which has soft pink painted walls. This corner bedroom has a double exposure : a window looks onto a small street and the other one overlooks the wisteria arbor. The bedroom is furnished with a double size bed, bedside tables with lamps and an antique bench. The private bathroom has a bathtub with shower, a sink and WC.

Sheets, blankets, duvets, towels and kitchen towels are provided.

If needed, a washing machine as well as a dryer may be used on the ground floor.

Both Bedrooms have Air Conditioning

Avignon -also known as the Popes' city- has a wealthy historical and artistic heritage. Its formidable stronghold Popes' Palace overlooks the wide expanse of the Rhone River plain and the encircled city. Do not miss the Old Sextier district, which is one of the most typical walks in the heart of Avignon. A few blocks from our charming Bed & Breakfast, it goes from the Place Pie to Rue du Vieux Sextier, a paved street with famous for its paddle wheel. The Belli building, situated on the corner of the Rue des Fourbisseurs is one of the oldest buildings in Avignon. If you want to see one of the most beautiful views of Avignon and its famous uncompleted bridge, you should go the island of Barthelasse. This large island formerly was a refuge for outlaws and deserters in the past centuries. The exceptional view over the city is best admired at sunset ; many paintings and etchings have been made of it. Of course, Avignon is also famous for its summer theater festival. Restaurants, cafés and shops are everywhere.

The closest expressway is the A9, exit Remoulins, 15 minutes drive away, or the A7 exit Avignon North or South. The A9 goes from the Spanish border to Orange. The A7 binds the Italian border to Lyon with connections for all major cities of the south east of France. The closest train station is at Avignon and is served by the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse) that goes to Paris in 2 hours and 40 minutes !

The closest airport is Avignon with 4 daily domestic flights from/to Paris. Most international connections are made through the international airports of Marseille-Marignane or Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
