Standing among the old mansions and the historic monuments of the Cité des Baux, this exclusive homestay offers exceptional panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the village. The house is one of the highest in the village. There is a large terrace, and three different guestrooms. Each of them tells us a story.
La Dame à La Licorne
-----------------------------------
The first bedroom is known as "La Dame à la Licorne". It has a double size bed and sleeps a couple or one person. A large window overlooking the village and the "Val d’Enfer" provides light in the whole bedroom. The en-suite bathroom has a stall shower, a sink and water closet.
La Suite
---------------
"La Suite" has a master bedroom and another room with a balcony, which can be used either as a second bedroom or as a study. The master bedroom has a double size bed, and the other room a double size sofa bed. A hallway with exposed rocs leads to the bathroom that is equipped with a stall shower, a sink, and water closet. The Suite can sleep 1 to 4 people. This guest room remind us that all the houses of the village has been built against the roc itself, in the authentic troglodyte tradition of this village.
Le Bijou
---------------
A third and unexpected guestroom is located on the top floor of the house : "Le Bijou". A large French window gives access to a private terrace with one of the most beautiful view of the Cité des Baux. The "Bijou"has two bedrooms : the master bedroom and another bedroom furnished with a sofa bed. This guest room can sleep 1 to 3 people and may be used also as a furnished private apartment as there is a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, 2 electric induction hotplates and a round wooden dining table. From the kitchen, a French door gives access to a private balcony with view over the famous castle of Les Baux.
Breakfasts are served either on the private terrace of the house, or in a cozy dining room. Parking spaces are available in the village upon request.
The house has a wealthy historical and cultural inheritage that the owner perfectly knows how to keep alive. There are many things to discover in this family house as well as among the narrow streets of this fascinating and timeless village that formerly belonged to the Grimaldi of Monaco.
Indeed, Les Baux, nestled among the Alpilles mountains, is listed as considered as one of the "Most beautiful villages in France" and as a historical monument. It is one of the most popular places in France. Set in the white rock, high on its promontory, the village of and its old castle overhang on a valley filled with olive trees, and vineyards. The view from the old castle is amazing and the "Cathédrale d’Images", set in a former stone quarry, usually offers interesting exhibitions. Within their surroundings, the Alpilles chain of mountains forms both a striking and a harmonious picture. The olive oil from the Baux valley is worldwide famous. This olive grove has been designated an ""Outstanding site for flavor"" and produces an olive oil, which has the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée classification.
Saint-Rémy de Provence and its famous ruins of Glanum are nearby : an old archeological site from the first century before Christ. It’s definitely worth a look. For paintings lovers, the hospital where Vincent Van Gogh stayed (Cloître Saint-Paul) is also a good excursion for the day. You may even recognize one of the landscapes he drew while he was there. Arles and "La Camargue" are only 30-40 minutes away by car and Avignon and its famous theater festival (in July) is 40 minutes away as well.
