With an area of approximately 800 square feet, this rental has two bedrooms and one bathroom.
This quiet street-facing apartment is located on the fourth floor of a prewar brownstone building in the East Village area of Manhattan. There is a part-time doorman on duty, and there are laundry facilities for residents in the building.
The wooden floor finishes and white painted walls create an immediate impression of easily maintained comfort, in a series of spaces designed to make full use of the available floor space. The heart of the apartment is the air-conditioned living room. A comfortable sofa bed and an armchair flank a small circular rattan-topped coffee table, providing recreation space during the day, and additional sleeping space at night. A tall black shelving unit (to the left on entry) contains the television with its access to cable channels, and also provides storage space. A stereo allows occupants to relax to the sounds of music.
The well-equipped kitchen with its modern timber-paneled storage cupboards, microwave oven, large refrigerator, cooker, and sink area is visible from the living room. Meals can be eaten as well as prepared in the kitchen, with occupants sitting down together at the glass-topped dining table.
A large window takes up much of one wall of the master bedroom which is furnished with a queen-size bed. Bed linen is provided.The second bedroom is to be found opening off the living room. Window drapes compliment the bedspreads on each of the two single beds, and create a warm yet uncluttered atmosphere. A tall black lamp placed between the beds casts light upward onto both walls and ceiling. During the day, however, the room's two large windows provide ample light.
The bathroom is efficiently designed, and has a bathtub with shower. Towels are provided.
The vibrant youthful energy of Manhattan's East Village is deservedly famous. The streets teem with colorful stores of every description. Esoteric boutiques, bookstores, ethnic restaurants and cosmopolitan cafes combine to create a casual, bohemian atmosphere. After dark, the numerous dance clubs help to maintain New York's reputation as a city that never sleeps.
The subway station closest to the apartment building is within ten minutes walking distance. Taxis can be hailed anywhere at all hours of the day or night.
