Location of the apartment is great, everything is close by and in walking distance. It was also very clean. Doorman and people at the front desk were very nice and responsive.
It was very quiet considering we were in Manhattan. Condition of the apartment was not very pleasant. Bed was almost impossible to sleep in since it was hard as rock, and once I removed the sheets to get them washed it was not very clean and neither were the pillows. I guess because they were old. I would suggest the owner to try and sleep on them and see for him self. But I guess what you pay is what you get, but for $2300 (and I know that is a great price for Upper East side) you should at least have a decent bed. It certainly does not look like in the pictures. We came from Washington state and were there for my moms surgery, so the criteria is different and so are the prices compared to Manhattan.
I guess we're not impressed with New York and cost of living in general.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the location and that the apt was very clean. The doorman and staff always strive for the best and we appreciate your compliments. Regarding the mattress, we were unaware that it was uncomfortable for you and would have gladly changed it along with the sheets. For future, just inform the front desk and we will take care of anything you may need.

The apartment was in the area that I wanted. However the building was incredibly run down. The advert on NY Habitat showed laundry facilities and those weren't available. You had to pay a daily rate for internet and the internet did not work properly for a week. The air conditioning unit was full of mould and mildew so when I turned it on the first night I woke up to a load of mess on the floor underneath the AC unit. The men at the front desk were helpful and polite. But the building in general is in very bad condition.

Thank you for your review, Kura! We are sorry to hear that your stay in New York was not completely satisfactory. We have addressed all concerns you mentioned with the owner to ensure that these issues do not arise in the future. We confirmed with the owner that there is a laundromat downstairs, but that this laundromat is in a separate retail portion of the building; not affiliated with the apartment building itself. We are sorry for this misunderstanding and we have made this much clearer on the website so that future guests will expect the laundry nearby, but not as part of the apartment building. The owner confirmed that the wifi is working well now and that they wish that you had told them at the time so that they could remedy the situation. As you know, the owner has offered you a reduced internet fee to make up for the time without internet. The owner also inspected the air conditioning unit and found that there was no mold, but some dust. This has now been cleaned out.

We're glad that you informed us so that we could follow up on these improvements!

Everything was good except the kitchen, I had all the supplies needed (forks, knifes, spoons, 2 plates, 2 bows, 2 pans, toaster, coffee maker and water heater), but the stove was in really bad conditions. The bed was fine, a little bit uncomfortable, but nothing to be worried about. The bathroom was great. The TV had just 5 channels, so I almost didn't use it during my stay. The air conditioner worked pretty good, but it was a little bit noise.

The neighborhood was the biggest problem. The bridge in front of the building caused a lot of noise and next to the building it had something that looked like a men night club, but if you walked just half of a block, you were surprised with 2 avenues with a lot of stores (2nd avenue) and restaurants (1st avenue). Just 1 block away has a food market, which is really nice, a little bit expensive, but great and not crowded. The subway is just 2 blocks away, so that wasn't a problem.

The doormen are really courteous. Didn't have any experience with rats, cockroach, or any animals. The public circulation area smells like cigarette, but inside the apartment you can`t even smell it, so that was ok. No problems with neighbors.

Thank you for the review, Caroline! We're glad to hear you had a nice stay, despite the issues you experienced. The owner assured us that the stove has been repaired and is in working order. Also, the owner recently installed new flat screen TV's, complete with 60 channels of cable for your viewing pleasure.

Please know that this apartment is near a bridge which can cause occasional traffic noise. We will take your concern into consideration, however, and make future clients aware of the potential for noise.

With regard to the smell in the common areas, the building has a strict no-smoking policy. While occasionally tenants may break this rule, it is enforced as much as possible.

First, this apartment is right next to the bridge and the traffic is really really loud. Also the AC is really old and loud. We tried to find people to fix it, but they told us it's a bad quality AC and wouldn't able to fix us.

The most annoying thing is!!! The apartment I got is not what on the picture!!!DON'T GET TRICKED! I only got an apartment with one bed and they refuse to switch to a two beds apartment! Horribly service!!.. Also also there is a weird smell in the room all the time!!!!

This apartment was newly renovated and is considered one of our better units. It is unfortunate that Qiu had a bad experience with her A/C unit, unfortunately this information was not given to the corporate office. If it were we would have replaced the A/C unit immediately with a brand new one.

I want to apologize for the experience Qiu had, and truly wish Qiu could have e-mailed or contacted our office regarding her uncomfortable stay. We could have easily switched her to an apartment with 2 beds and facing the courtyard to avoid noise at no extra charge. I can assure you that we work very hard to make sure or tenants stay is as comfortable as possible.

Most importantly we need to hear from the tenant if they are uncomfortable to help find a unit that works for them (as we have various different types of units in the building). We also have many apartments facing the courtyard for those tenant who prefer quiet units.

Again we regret Qiu experience and only ask she contact us so we can work on compensating her for her unpleasant stay.

Thank you for your review, Qiu! Please take note that this is a model apartment so the pictures may not be of the exact apartment you will be renting (see the apartment's description).

We checked with the apartment owner and the A/C is now in full working order. We appreciate your feedback!
