Put yourself in the middle of the Upper West Side with this room for rent on 73rd Street, just one subway stop from the Lincoln Center. Just off of Amsterdam Avenue and Broadway that bustle with shops and restaurants, you've also got the calm of Central Park two blocks to your east or Riverside Park two blocks to the west. The room itself also shines, part of a great 2-bedroom apartment share in a prewar elevator building, complete with an intercom system and laundry facilities. The apartment is on the 5th floor (equivalent to European 4th floor), giving the available bedroom a vantage point for views of the lovely buildings and iconic streets of the UWS.
The bedroom for rent is situated on the western end of the apartment, offering a nice degree of privacy, as the kitchen and bathroom separate you from the other bedroom. Highlights of the room include its double set of 7'' windows (about 2.1 meters) with custom shutters, its wall of closets and a beautiful rug setting off the wood floors. The furnishings complete the picture, with a single size trundle bed with a comfortable Memory Foam mattress that can expand to a king size bed, offering flexibility if needed. There are two bookshelves, giving even more space to stow your things after the closets. A flat screen television is set on the desk, complete with DVD player, allowing entertainment as well as a workspace. The windows look towards Broadway with a view of a park and the historical Ansonia building.
The common rooms of the apartment include the kitchen, bathroom and living room, all with windows to maximize natural light. The kitchen is galley style, and has a small table situated just outside in the hallway. The bathroom is a pleasant sea-foam color above the tiling and has a bathtub that converts to shower with a handheld showerhead. In the living room, you will find a sofa and a wall of books, as well as an elegant baby grand piano.
This part of the Upper West Side is well-known for being close to the Lincoln Center and the theatre district, and the owner of the apartment will be happy to advise you on favorite spots, restaurants or events so you can hit the ground running after moving to Manhattan! Around the corner from this apartment share, you'll find yourself on famous Broadway, which has everything from Chase Bank to American Apparel to Trader Joe's to Fairway Market, so you never have to go far for everyday needs or shopping. There are tourists attractions nearby, such as the Dakota House, the former residence of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and you can walk to Central Park to see the Strawberry Fields landmark, also a nice place for jogs, picnics or just relaxing. The Juilliard School is one subway stop south and the Museum of Natural History is one stop north, or you can just walk! For a pleasant evening stroll, walk beside the Hudson River on the Greenway, just three blocks west of the apartment building. You can explore much of New York City just by walking or biking up and down this path!
Though you have plenty of reasons to stay close to home, for commuting you have easy access to the subway, just one block away on 72nd Street and Amsterdam! The 1, 2, 3 trains have express and local options, allowing you to reach your destination as efficiently as possible. You can be in Columbus Circle in 2 short local stops, great for shopping or visiting Whole Foods, or Penn Station in 2 express stops. There is also the B and C lines available at the 72 Street / Central Park West station, 3 blocks from this two bedroom apartment share. These lines will take you to destination neighborhoods like Chelsea, the West Village, SoHo and the Lower East Side, or uptown to Harlem and beyond. You can also connect to the M5, M7, M11, M57, M72 and M104 buses easily, making transit as easy as it gets in NYC!

The experience I had in this apartment honestly exceeded all my expectations, so this is going to sound more like an ad than a review. First of all, the location is fantastic. You're just a few blocks from Lincoln Center, a very short walk from Central Park and Riverside Park, and the 1, 2 and 3 trains right across the street, along with several buses, will take you wherever you need to go. The room is huge for New York standards, with more closet and drawer space that you'll know what to do with. The place is clean and the kitchen has everything. But the best part is definitely the owner. She is a wonderful person who will help you with anything you could need, and will never complain even if you cook late at night 2 feet away from her bedroom. As long as you don't mind a few singing students, you will have the time of your life here. |

I really loved my stay with Greta! I felt at home right away, she was always very warm, open and friendly. The room was bigger than expected with a lot of storage room, a nice view to Verdi Square and beautiful high ceilings. |
