Description
Room for Rent 1 Bedroom apartment in Cobble Hill (NY-12527)
1 Bedroom - Triplex, 2 Bathrooms - Sleeps

These charming rooms for rent are part of a shared brownstone triplex apartment in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. At times, the rooms are rented as bed and breakfast accommodations, for nightly or weekly rentals, and at other times, they are rented on a monthly basis, as a longer-term roommate share situation.

The first bedroom for rent (Bedroom 1) is located in the basement. A shared bathroom is located upstairs on the first level; the kitchen and living room are also upstairs and are shared. Please be aware that the ceiling of the basement is low, only 5 feet and 8 inches (1.80 meters) high. The room is equipped with a single size bed, a desk, and has a skylight where natural light comes through. The basement bedroom is completely private from the rest of the house. Linens are provided.

The second bedroom for rent (Bedroom 2) is on the 2nd floor. The room is brightly painted, accenting the classic embossed ceilings and bright white moldings. A decorative fireplace and hardwood floors also add personality to the room, which overlooks a tree-lined residential street via two windows.

On the first level is the living room which is to be shared with the roommates. The living room is furnished with a sofa, chairs and a coffee table. There is a bookcase and wireless Internet access is available. On this floor there is also bathroom and a kitchen with a dining table that seats four people. In the kitchen you have the convenience of a washing machine and a dryer and a door which opens to the backyard garden area, which includes some patio furniture for relaxing.

The Cobble Hill neighborhood is a residential area near many shops, bakeries, restaurants and coffee shops in Brooklyn. The Sugar Lounge, for example, is only 500 feet (152 meters) away from the apartment at Kane Street, as is the restaurant Alma, which has a rooftop terrace with a great view of the Manhattan skyline. Furthermore, there is a cinema 7 blocks to the east, and Cobble Hill Park can be found five blocks away. About 9 blocks (2000 feet / 610 m) from the apartment you will find the nearest subway station: the Bergen Street station, where you can catch the F train into Manhattan (just 3 stops!) so you can visit all of New York City's sights, or the G train to travel through Brooklyn.

Please note the owner has pets living in the apartment. If you have certain allergies, please inform your agent.

The room is nice and comfortable with lots of space/storage. It has an own bathroom. Washing machine and dryer in the kitchen are definitely a plus. There is a huge backyard as well. Unfortunately I did not really get to use it, as I was there during winter months.

The neighborhood is great! One of the best in the city, with lots of restaurants and shops. You can walk up to Brooklyn Bridge in 20 to 30 minutes. And F and G trains are easy to reach (10 min walk), several other in about 20 minutes walk.

The kitchen appliances were great. The only thing missing was a microwave. The owner/roommate was responsive and easy to reach by phone even when she went out of town. The neighborhood was a joy to explore, and the bedroom was spacious.

However, I didn't see a smoke detector in the bedroom. In September, I noticed that the skylight leaked when it rained and there was some mold in the right-hand corner of the area beneath it. The owner said someone had come to look at it twice, but wasn't able to fix it.

Happily, it didn't leak during Hurricane Sandy because the owner placed a tarp over it. During my stay, there were two small holes in the arches above the desk area and some of the red brick and paint chips crumbled onto the carpet. I imagine this is being repaired now.

Thank you for your feedback, Valerya! I did not realize the fire alarm had been taken down; it has been replaced.

I had a second opinion on the mold. The second worker said there is no mold and that the first guy was probably trying to get more work.

As you said, there was no leak even after Hurricane Sandy and that remains the same. The patches in the arches are already being fixed.

The next tenant has been very happy, especially with the washer and dryer.

Owner was very warm, welcoming and courteous during my stay. I couldn't have asked for a better location as the neighborhood is one of the best in the city. Space is quite large and there was plenty of storage and amenities to keep me comfortable. Also, there is a lovely garden/patio out back to enjoy which is nice during the sping and summer months.
Would definately recommend this space!

I spent over a year in this apartment and I loved it! The landlord is really fantastic. The only reason I didn't rate the building with 5 stars is because there is no doorman - and the post office in Red Hook is terrible (30 min bus ride away and service there is awful). But if you don't care about getting mail - it's perfect.

Backyard is gorgeous in the spring and summer, and there's a washer/dryer IN THE APARTMENT. I didn't realize how rare this is until I moved to New York. The neighborhood is delightful and the price is a steal.

Room is spacious (well, not vertically) and quiet. Convenience store right next door if you run out of anything, wonderful pets in the apartment, responsive/caring roommate/landlord.

What more could you ask for?? Everyone I've had visit the place this past year has commented on what a great place it is - if you think you'd like this apartment based on its listing, you probably will.

I rented this apartment for 3 months. I had a great stay. I lived with the owner who is very nice. The bedroom is big with a lot of storage place, queen size bed with your own television with cable.

The room is very quiet. I had my own private bathroom. Kitchen is very practical with dishwasher and washing machine/dryer.

The neighbourhood is awesome. There are a lot of restaurants, supermarkets and shops. F and G trains close to the apartment (10 minutes by walking).

I greatly recommend this apartment share for people who love New-York. It's a great price for a great place.

I shared the apartment during a month with the landlord who is a very kind woman. The room downstairs is as big as the pictures reflected and you really have your own privacy (you've got your own bathroom, your own TV with cable), the bed is amazing!
The apartment is quiet, safe and located in a very nice neighborhood; you've got all you need around. The F and G trains are about 3 blocks from the house and you're very close to downtown Brooklyn with a lot of trains that bring you to Manhattan in 10/15 minutes.
I really enjoyed spending the month at this [Brooklyn apartment], it was a wonderful experience!
