This two bedroom apartment share is located in the pleasant neighborhood of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. It sits on the fourth floor (considered 3rd in Europe) of a four-story early-20th century walk-up townhouse. This prewar building is located on Carroll Street and Hicks Street. This room is spacious and uncluttered, providing just enough accessories to form a comfortable living space. Two large windows with long blue curtains accommodate natural sunlight and ventilation, and look over the townhouse lined street. Also supplied are a cable television, one armchair, one full-sized mirror and a dresser drawer/desk. The windows view the calm street below.
The private office area (Living Room in features list) is accessible from the room for rent via French doors and separates the two bedrooms on this floor. Here, atop wooden floors, a long desk with one chair and lamp allows completion of workloads and space for recreational activities. Track lighting atop the ceiling provides ample illumination.
A shared kitchen features exposed brick walls and a long dining table with four chairs, and is open to the entry stairwell. Cooking appliances are available here, including a toaster oven, microwave and coffee maker, as well as a full refrigerator. Please note however, that there is no full oven or sink available. One window faces the street and there is a skylight as well. The shared bathroom is at the end of the hall, and also has plenty of natural light with a large window (with shutters) and skylight.
Carroll Gardens is a picturesque, brownstone-lined Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City near the East River. This residential community includes cafés, antique shops and boutiques. It is just 4 stops from Manhattan on the F train! Listed below are some suggestions of what to do during your stay.
- Carroll Park: This park features playgrounds and pathways. It extends the block between Smith, Court, and President Streets, about 4 blocks away (approx. 700m).
- Mazzola Baker: A favorite local bakery serving coffee, bread, and pastries, just 3.5 blocks away on Union Street (about 400 meters)
- Court Street: A local thoroughfare home to many shops and eateries, situated 3 streets east. Try Italian fare at Buttermilk Channel or pick up your prescriptions or toiletried at the CVS/Pharmacy here.
- Union Street Super Wash Center: Nearest Laundromat found two blocks north (about 240m).
For public transportation into Manhattan, take the F train at Carroll Street and Smith Street (0.5mi/850m). At this same address you may take the G train, extending from Brooklyn to Queens.
