The apartment overall was quite lovely. It was well furnished and clearly recently renovated. The gas stove was one of our favorite features and something that is hard to find in many apartments. It was relatively easy to maintain the apartment, but some of the flooring was prone to staining. While the apartment was great, there were some concerns about security. There was constant construction being done on the building, and occasionally, the front door to the building would be left open. On top of this, the apartment is located in a busy area that is not always the safest, so concerns about someone finding their way into the building or breaking into the apartment were high.

Thank you for your review.

I understand that the work is a nuisance, it was façade work that had to be done a year before your arrival; unfortunately I have no power of decision over this kind of situation, but the co-ownership is very vigilant about building maintenance.

Luckily, the work didn't apply to your windows.

About the slate floor, which only covers a quarter of the apartment, it's a noble material, like marble, and it's very nice to walk barefoot on stone rather than tiles.

It had just been renovated, and I asked you to follow the maintenance rules: water! no detergents. Marks are part of wear.

Finally, on the subject of safety, I'm very surprised. We're in the heart of the Marais district, opposite a 5-star hotel with a security guard permanently on duty and a large police station less than 200 meters away.

As it happens, the neighborhood is the apartment's strong point.

Even so, I think you had a pleasant stay since you wanted to stay for another year.

The apartment has an excellent location and the landlord was friendly and accessible. Also all administrative things worked smoothly. The apartment itself would benefit greatly from a general refurbishment.

Dear Stefan, First of all, I hope that you had a pleasant stay in my apartment with your family. I think your comment is a bit harsh. Regarding the cleanliness, I remind you that the apartment was occupied uninterruptedly seven months before you moved in. To please you, we brought forward your arrival a day earlier which forced me to prepare the apartment in less than a day, moreover on a Sunday. This explains that some details like the lamps to change or the missing pad under a chair couldn't be fixed properly but to say that the apartment must be redone entirely, there is a slight difference. Besides, regarding comfort, I am sure that you appreciated the high quality bedding, quality appliances (Miele,) as well as design furniture from Conran Shop combined with old paintings from the 18th century and the Directory door.
To conclude, as I told you, the hotel just in front of the apartment charges 300 per night for a 23 sqm room, the service is always proportional to the price.
Best regards
Sylvie

The apartment was rented for my daughter and her friend to attend a semester at school. It was perfect for that. THe location was fantastic. The owners were warm and friendly. They responded to requests promptly and did their best to resolve issues. All in all the girls loved their stay in Paris and so much of that positive experience had to do with their lovely apartment and it's great location.

The apartment is nice but many little things were not working. There was a latch at the kitchen that kept falling off. The bathroom leaked water into the main bedroom and the problem was not solved for more than a month. The lights in the living room need to be replaced. And the front door and sliding bathroom doors are noisy to operate. Other than these, the apartment is very nice and in a good location .

Hello Yuthian,

I am sorry that you did not tell me directly about some of these inconveniences to which I could have responded. If I may ask you some questions, I don't understand what you call a latch in the kitchen and there is no sliding door in the bathroom.
Regarding the front door, it is indeed harder to close during winter (wood alters) and because of this it becomes noisier when you shut it.
The light bulbs have been replaced in the living room (which is normal after a four-month rental), and for that matter I paid for it.
Regarding the leak in the bathroom, as I told you, this incident happened mid-August when all companies are on vacation. After reading our emails, I noticed that this was fixed one week later and not a month.
In any case, I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in my apartment.

Great apartment. Great location in Le Marais. Great restaurants and markets within a block or two.

However a number of small things detracted somewhat from our stay. Owner not responsive to emails - took 3 weeks to answer some basic questions posed in an email a couple of months prior to arrival. Had to involve agent because emails were not being answered just prior to our arrival. Sent college age son to greet us upon arrival. He had very little knowledge of operation of appliances although good on wifi. Mixing valve on overhead shower did not work - had to use hand held shower. Bring a knife sharpener - pots and pans date from the time of Napoleon. A number of items left by prior renters still in the closets. In summary, owner less than attentive.

Hello Bob, I am really touched that you had a great stay in my apartment.

It is true that there were some confusion in the organization (but nobody ever complained about it), an unfortunate event and that the reservation was made just before your arrival. As I told you later on, when you waited for my answer during three weeks, I was in the Antilles, in a place where the Internet connection was bad. There was also some confusion because I asked my son to answer your emails (he speaks better English than me) and even if he told you about it, you did not understand right away. To compensate this small misfortune, I asked him to welcome you (which we usually never do since our guests can access the apartment by themselves because there is a user manual on appliances). I am sad that it was not clear enough, we did our best to help you.

I am also sorry that you thought we were not careful enough. Remember that I had some quality wine glasses (from the Caves Legrand) delivered to you during your stay. I should probably buy some frying pans, but I only buy high quality products. I am going to remedy this. Regarding the shower head and the previous guests' belongings, if you had told me about it during your stay, I could have solved these issues. In any case, thank you for your remarks Bob, which will allow me to improve the quality of my service.

Best regards,
Sylvie

The apartment was appropriately furnished and the owner had provided instructions for all the appliances as well as directions to nearby grocery stores and restaurants. The owner responded to our emails within a few days and was always helpful and friendly.

The apartment and the location are great! Stayed in the apartment for more than three months and I had a great experience. Bespite some small broken things, the apartment is perfect for a short or long-term stay in Paris!

The apartment was in a very central location with many restaurants, shops, attracions within a short walking distance. The apartment itself was acceptable and well stocked with everything you needed. The furniture could use some updating as it is very old and the couches are not that comfortable. The one bedroom does not have a window so the ventilation is not that good. Other than that, we found it to be comfortable. The owner is easily accessible and accomodating.

Kathleen, thank you for choosing to stay at my apartment. I am glad that you liked the neighborhood. The Haut Marais district is actually an old city area, perfect to take a walk and close to all touristic sights.

However, I am disappointed that the apartment?s spirit was not so obvious to you. It features a mix between modern facilities and materials (kitchen, design bathroom, polished concrete and slate on the floors), and antique furniture (paintings from the 1900s, furniture from the 1940s, as is but in good condition).

As for the sofa, it is not uncomfortable (it is the top quality sofa at Conran Shop), but it is a very deep one.

Lastly, there is actually a window in the bedroom with a view on the courtyard (I am really surprised), as for the extra bedroom (an alcove), it gives onto the living room which has three windows.

There is no ventilation issue in this double-oriented apartment totaling 7 windows (in a 65 square meters flat).

I think you are used to living in very modern apartments, but Paris is famous for its old buildings.
