Related studio vacation rentals: furnished accommodations in New York |

The host is present and responsive, very pleasant and helpful. Two hot plates would make things easier. Only one window opens, and having the A/C on for a long time is not ideal (health + noise).
May 08 2013It's very nice to have a toilet set, towels and an information sheet on the neighborhood. Nice to have the sheets washed and the towels changed halfway through the stay. Being able to check in and check out at the time we liked and to find an arrangement for the luggage is a plus.
We really loved our stay in New York, the neighborhood is nice to live in and really makes you want to go back!!! Many thanks!
Accommodation Owner
Thank you Tangi and we'll will look into your suggestions.
May 14 2013New York Customer Service
Hi Emanuelle and Tangi and thank you for your review. It is unfortunate that you could open one window only. We double-checked with the owner who confirmed the other windows can be opened as well.
May 14 2013We understand that some persons can be bothered and sick because of the air conditioning. Of course you have the choice to turn it on or off at your convenience.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and we would be happy to assist you again in the future.
I knew that renting an apartment in NYC would help to not feel like a tourist. What I was not expecting however, was to feel like I was home. I have been to New York several times but have never experienced it this way before. From the moment I arrived at the apartment I knew I was in good hands with the owner/operator. He greeted me when I arrived at 11pm without the slightest shred of annoyance of my arival time.
Apr 16 2013I was shown around the apartment and treated to some highlights of the East Village area. For the next 9 days I didnt encounter this gentlemen, unless I so required, in which case he was very attentive and accommodating to requests.
The apartment itself is located in a typical New York townhouse. The location is spot on; in a relatively quite street in a bustling neighborhood. It can get a little louder than one would like at night, but you can never stop the garbage collection or sirens in the city that never sleeps. Restaurants, bars, cafes, stores are here in the dozens. And all are within a five minute walk of the apartment.
The space is a wonderfully large loft apartment with floorboards throughout. Three large windows allow an abundance of light and air to fill the apartment. A huge king bed (or two large singles) make for a very comfortable nights sleep. This is for those who have seen New York before but want a truly local lifestyle.
I will be strongly recommending this appartment again and return when I next visit. Thank you for helping make my stay in the city a treat!
Accommodation Owner
Thank you Dean for being kind and fair in your review. My only reply is that a fire trucks siren's only purpose is to wake you up or get your attention for a possible emergency. This also goes for the garbage truck when it backs up to make a loud beep. I can control a lot of things in the apartment, these "city" noises are not one of them.
Apr 17 2013The apartment was excellent! Clean, quiet apartment building, close to great eateries, and within walking distance to SoHo. The area in which the apartment is located is much quieter and less hectic than tourist-y Midtown, but still loud for someone who's only lived in a quiet, suburban neighborhood.
Mar 25 2013Overall, great experience and would love to stay here again for my next visit.
Great vacation rental, very hospitable host, always available and extremely friendly. On the night we arrived, he gave us information on the city, useful tips, recommendations on restaurants.
Mar 09 2013The apartment is located in East Village, a quiet neighborhood during the week but a bit noisy in the evening and at weekends but you quickly forget the noise when you are tired. The apartment is also near a subway station (a 5-10 minute-walk) and close to several good restaurants and local stores.
We will go back to this apartment in a heartbeat for a future trip to New York.
Accommodation Owner
Thank you Adrien for your nice comments, we are glad that you found our information useful an liked the location. The apartment is facing the street although it is 3 floors up, there is noise on some nights and weekends. In NYC, there are garbage trucks that go by, police sirens and extra people honking their horns on the weekends.
Mar 18 2013You get great a view but not much we can do about the sometimes annoying normal city life noise. People who are sensitive to it should bring ear plugs. Although many guests are ok with it. But it is not something that is constant. In the summer people sleep with the A/C so there is no noise coming.
We would be pleased to host you again for your future trip to New York!
Excellent stay from February 9 through 24.
Mar 04 2013Excellent, flawless welcome: friendly, smiling and very helpful host. There were NYC guides and maps on the table.
The vacation rental is well located (an 8 minute walk from the subway) and the building is quiet and clean (even though there were works going on in the staircase).
Worth noting: no security deposit and complimentary cleaning!
Very good choice. The vacation rental is well equipped and very well located only a couple of blocks from various subway stations, right in the heart of East Village.
Dec 24 2012Special mention to the host who is very happy to help those who don't know the city in every little way he can (he gave us a city map, a list of recommended places close to the neighborhood, a map of the subway lines, among other help guides).
To be recommended
Sep 23 2012Excellent hospitality.
Although we did not award the highest ratings in some of the categories, we would like to say that the owners kindly addressed all of our needs. By the end, we felt "right at home".
Jun 24 2012The information they gave us during our stay in New York was very helpful.
New York Customer Service
Thank you for your feedback. We understand why you gave low ratings due to noise. We disclose this in the property description, in which we state the following: "This apartment is in the East Village, which is a lively neighborhood and can be noisy at times, more so on the weekends than on weekdays."
Sep 11 2012This neighborhood has plenty of advantages that outweigh the noise issue, but if indeed one is looking for a quiet apartment, we have plenty of other options to fit that criteria.
Excellent opinion
Jun 01 2012Beautiful vacation rental and great neighborhood, but it'd be better with double glazing (very noisy the night we arrived...)
May 14 2012Accommodation Owner
Your structural improvement suggestion will be taken under advisement.
May 26 2012Very pleasant accommodation in a very good location, clean, comfortable. Unbeatable value for money. Owner is very friendly and forthcoming. Small downside: a bit noisy at weekends. I'll recommend it around me!
Feb 21 2012Brilliant location and very comfortable apartment. Landlords hospitable
Jan 14 2012Comfortable apartment for two, in an area with a wide choice of restaurants, bars,... quiet neighborhood for sleeping and subway nearby. The heating works without problems but the noise it makes was a bit of a nuisance overnight. Clean, free wifi and full kitchen.
Dec 12 2011This was a great little apartment in the East Village - the pictures really do not do it justice! The owner/manager was extremely friendly and helpful, the area was fantastic and I will definitely use again on return trips to NY!!
Dec 06 2011This was my first extended time in New York and was so happy to find this apartment. It's an almost perfect place to stay. Upon my arrival, the owner/manager gave me a good rundown of the apartment and the neighborhood plus, supplied me with a map of New York(subways and all).
Dec 03 2011The apartment is nicely set up with hardwood floors, a leather sofa, nice round dining table, beds closet and kitchen area. It's big enough so that living area was away from the sleeping area. The kitchen area had everything needed for a week's stay though only one burner worked on the stove. The showerhead makes bathing a little interesting (needed to position it for hands free showering).
The location is along a wonderful street in the East Village and close to all public transportation & nice eateries. Due to the closeness to NYU, Friday and Saturday nights were a bit noisy until very late (something to consider if you're running the NY Marathon). After the weekend, all was peaceful and quiet. Otherwise, this apartment was great and, if I'm ever out there again, I'll definitely check for its availability.
New York Customer Service
The owners informed us that they recently made improvements to many areas of the apartment and took this opportunity to remodel the kitchen as well, which now includes an induction burner.
Jan 30 2012This was my second vacation rental in Manhattan. I didn't like the 2006 one as much. This time right from the start (and even prior to my arrival in New York) I was impressed by the owner's quick response. It didn't change after I arrived. The key handover went smoothly and was really nice. The owner was invariably reliable and responsive. The owner took the trouble to leave first information on the neighborhood in the apartment, all on laminate A4 sheets and in blue folders. They contain useful tips on good restaurants and nice places to have breakfast, bars and convenient airport connections for the flight back. There was also an old version of the book 'THE NEW YORKER' displayed on the table. You can tell right away that the owner enjoys renting his apartment and isn't just interested in money.
Oct 30 2011The apartment is in a fantastic location within hip East Village close to a range of affordable restaurants and other important sites as well. The apartment itself is very quiet. Anyone who has been to New York before knows that even at night you can hear the usual noise from the city. When the windows are shut, you can still hear the sound of NY or some night owls making their way back home. So light sleepers should either make sure they have earplugs or else stay in an apartment at the back of the building.
The furnishing is functional and very cozy. There are many pots and dishes (though we didn't cook much, since there are so many great restaurants nearby). There is ample provision of towels. The apartment is spotless and perfect for two people. The bathroom is very small but beautiful with natural stone wall tiles. The wash basin is a bit impractical as it is askew along the wall; it seems impossible not to flood the bathroom floor when using it - not a big deal though. The mattresses were in good shape (just a bit too firm to my liking). I can't say enough good things about this accommodation. So I'll just stop now and will give a few suggestions for improvement. I don't have anything truly negative to address. If it were possible to give 10 stars I would do so!
Minor suggestions for improvement:
• The glass table is way too big for the size of the room and is also very wobbly, since the table frame is not cut out for such a big glass top.
• A full-length mirror is missing.
• A kettle would be great - for those who don't like microwaves that much ;-)
A perfect accommodation in Manhattan.
The apartment was cozy and close to all the restaurants, sights and things we wanted to experience. Tony met us when we arrived and was most helpful and even got us our passes to the 9/11 Memorial. To be honest we felt like we were real New Yorkers and used many of the businesses in the area.
Oct 24 2011The owner is a fantastic person. Super helpful and kind!
Jul 08 2011nothing to add, everything was perfect, perhaps it would be good to have a universal adapter for electrical outlets.
Jul 05 2011We are most thankful for the owners' welcome, their kindness and their making the neighborhood resources available to us.
May 30 2011Accommodation Owner
all - i enjoyed very much their stay. they were wonderful guests as almost all are and i hope they might return soon again.
May 30 2011Excellent welcome from the owner. The accommodation was very clean. Quiet building. Quiet street and neighborhood well served with subway. Good restaurants nearby.
May 09 2011The price is a little high (compared with other capital cities) but I'm told it's regular New York price. It would help to have curtains on the windows to avoid being woken up too early in the morning. Moderate heat- and soundproofing, but the street is quiet.
Studio apartment is exactly as described on the website. Ideal for a couple (if you change the two single beds for a double bed!), the vacation rental is very bright thanks to its three large windows overlooking the tree-lined street and another window overlooking a church, but double-glazing would be a plus! the bathroom is quite small but the shower is very nice, just one or two shelves would be helpful for toiletries. Tony is a friendly and dynamic owner!
May 01 2011The highlight was the charming welcome we received; all the little issues we met were very quickly and efficiently resolved. When we arrived we felt welcome as though we were friends; we were given a remarkably clear map of NYC and useful tips for our stay. The only drawback is the accommodation lack of soundproofing.
Apr 26 2011Very nice appartment, extraordinary friendly people (thanks again!), great location, "good energy", but very loud...new, double windows would make the place even greater...we will definitly come again
Apr 07 2011The noise comes from outside because the window insulation is not very good, but you get used to it.
Mar 08 2011We had a very good time in New York and the apartment was great. Exactly what we wanted. Very uncomplicated, clean and located in a very comfortable area.
Dec 21 2010Five stars out of five. Merry Christmas.
We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment and people who hosted us.
Oct 19 2010This vacation rental is sunny, well located, nothing missing and clean. Nicer than pictures on the web site.
I also thank Christophe for the deal.
We enjoyed our stay in the apartment.
Oct 12 2010Reasons:
Situated very conveniently for walking and for public transportation; lively neighbourhood with lots of ethnic restaurants and shops (it might be too lively if you are looking for a particularly quiet place, but it was fine for us);
The studio was good for the two of us, but we would not want to share it with more;
We appreciated very much the support by the owner's representative: helpful and friendly, he gave us many interesting hints you would not find in travel-books.
We will recommend the services of New York Habitat to our friends!
The vacation rental is really good, depending on the day, there is sometimes a little noise from the restaurants in the street.
Sep 02 2010Apart from that, I'd highly recommend it.
We were delighted with our vacation rental and the kindness [of our contact at the apartment].The location, the neighborhood, the nearby amenities: it was perfect.
May 12 2010However, we had some concerns with regard to the windows that were not draughtproof: we were cold for 2 nights, we had the feeling we were sleeping outdoors because the windows would not shut tightly.
Having a vacuum cleaner would have been nice ; a light (that didn't work) and its socket looked faulty and even dangerous (stripped wire sticking out from the wall and loose socket)
This did not mar our stay and I'd gladly recommend this accommodation option and more especially this neighborhood.
Thanks for everything.
New York Customer Service
Further to this review, we contacted the apartment owner who found leaves stuck in the window frame that he has now removed ; he also confirmed that a vacuum cleaner can be lent on request and that the defective light and socket have been repaired.
May 12 2010My friend and I booked the vacation rental on East 6th Street from 22 Feb - 1 Mar this year and had a fantastic stay.
Mar 22 2010The apartment was the ideal base from which to explore New York City during our holiday: very clean and well-stocked, with everything in working order including the heating which kept the apartment warm despite a 48 hour blizzard and arctic temperatures! The location was perfect for us - in a vibrant area with a short subway journey uptown and to Brooklyn.
The accommodation owner's representative who gave us the keys on arrival, was extremely friendly and helpful and left us a thoughtful array of maps and personalised guides to local amenities. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to enjoy New York whilst avoiding the Midtown tourist trap.
One thing worth noting is that the noise levels in the area can be high, as New York Habitat had mentioned before we made the booking. As it happened, the only window-rattling moment we endured was when a series of trucks drove past the building at 5am each morning. This wasn't a problem for us but it did make a difference that we had been told about this in advance, so thank you and please continue to do so for other prospective tenants.
We'll definitely use NY Habitat again.
I stayed at the vacation rental in E 6th Street and it was wonderful. I could've moved in right then and there!
Feb 08 2010The reason I booked through NY habitat instead of booking a hotel was because I just really wanted to experience the city as a resident rather than a tourist and wanted to have 'my own' place and it truly felt like that.
In New York (the guy who runs the apt) was great. He was very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful on arrival.
I will definitely use New York Habitat again for a stay in NYC, hopefully soon!
Many thanks,
The apartment was very nice, well laid out and well located in East Village, and very clean. [The vacation rental owner's representative], very kind and excellent welcome.
Jan 06 2010We are very happy with both your service and the accommodation which matched the photos.
Thank you for your professionalism.
We very much enjoyed our January stay in the apartment. The apartment was nice and cozy and nicely heated. The owner was helpful. The location was great, we could walk to a lot of different neighbourhoods, and the transportation (metro and bus) was also very practical.
Aug 27 2009The East Village was a great place to stay with a lot of different restaurants and shops. I would strongly recommend this neighbourhood to get a feel for New York, it was great to be in a lively neighbourhood.
We greatly enjoyed our February visit in New York and our stay at this apartment. The landlord was very helpful with tourist and other information. The [East Village] apartment was nice, charming and clean; a perfect stay for two persons. We especially liked the neighborhood with Soho and the Lower East Side in a walking distance. We look forward using your service again.
Aug 07 2009I really enjoyed my stay in NY especially due to the reason that we slept in an apartment provided by NY Habitat.
Aug 06 2009Our host was very smart, he waited in the evening for us to open the apartment, and provided us a lot of Information about the [subway], the neighborhood and all this daily stuff. The apartment was quite small, but clean and fine, with good cable TV. We enjoyed every morning your American Morning TV.
The apartment was placed in the East Village in Manhattan. It was easy to go from there to everywhere in NY.
We really enjoyed the stay in NY, not only due to the amazing city, one key to success was the pleasant stay in NY Habitat apartment. We felt like real New Yorkers, not like tourists, this was the biggest advantage! I would and I will go every time again to a NY Habitat apartment when I visit NY again. I recommended this as well to a lot of friends.
This apartment was just what we needed: it was simple, beautiful and had lots of light; ideal for two, 3 could also fit since there was an extra folding bed. The bathroom was a little small. The location was great to visit New York, the neighborhood was very nice, the subway and a bus were close, as well as supermarkets and shops.
Aug 05 2009We (me and our two daughters) are very pleased with our stay in New York. The apartment was clean and nice and well equipped for our purpose.
Jul 07 2009From day one I´m very pleased with the contacts I had with your agency. Your service was excellent! I´m also very pleased with apartment owner contact. He was really very service minded.
I´m sure we are coming back to New York again and I´m not hesitating to use your agency again.
We loved the flat, really good situation, really clean and our contact was really nice and helpful. [He] gave us a lot of information about the area, restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions.
Jun 08 2009The [East Village] apartment was ideally located, it was clean and agreeable. The owner gave us all the information we needed and was present if necessary. The only problem was the noise in the street and the absence of sound isolation.Thank you for everything.
Feb 16 2009We are extremely happy with the [East Village] apartment and the service given to us.
Dec 15 2008[The apartment manager] was very kind and very helpful. We will recommend you your website.
Hi New York Habitat. We are back home since 15th nov and we still can't forget our perfect stay in the rented apartment. It was very small, but perfect for our demands. It was clean and well-positioned, the bathroom was [...] too small and the shower a bit non-easy and comfortable but it was ok for a one week-stay. The owner has been very kind with us but also reserved (not intrusive at all). We are satisfied of the service, I thank you for your interest [...]
Nov 27 2008Nothing but good things to say about our experience in the [East Village-New York] apartment. This is the second time I have used New York Habitat to rent an apartment and it has really enhanced our experience both times.
Nov 04 2008The apartment was very clean and had all we needed for our stay (including a hair dryer which my girlfriend was extremely excited about).
The information provided about nearby restaurants and shops was very useful, as was the NY map (including Subway/Bus routes) which we used throughout our
stay.
We really enjoyed the vibrancy of the area and the proximity to both uptown and downtown Manhattan. We felt very safe both on the streets and in the apartment at night. I would definitely stay here again and use your service again, and have already recommended it to friends who wish to visit NY in the future.
I really enjoyed my stay in NY, everything was just fine, warm welcome, apartment very well located. It was a real pleasure staying over there, thanks again!
Oct 06 2008The [East Village] apartment was nice and very clean and located in a very good location! We had a very nice stay thanks to the owner.
Oct 02 2008We were extremely happy during our stay in New York. The apartment was perfect and [...] (the owner) very nice and friendly. I also wanted to thank [our New York Habitat agent] who was very nice and helped us in a very professional way. Thank you for your excellent service. We have already recommended your agency to our friends.
Sep 16 2008The [New York accommodation] was wonderful! Very clean, very quiet and I felt extremely safe in this house. The host was very helpful and friendly [...]
Jun 06 2008Everything was perfect! The super-friendly host helped us a lot and was always reachable. Very clean and tidy [New York] apartment that looked even better in real life than on the photos. The owner had even worked out small tour suggestions and gourmet walks through the neighborhood which I found to be a very sweet idea...and the suggestions proved to be worthwhile! So to make a long story short: Couldn't have been better!
May 16 2008Our stay was very pleasant and the owner obliging. The [New York] apartment was luminous, clean and equipped. It's a good place!
May 08 2008The apartment [located in the East Village, New York] was up to our standards and the owner was kind
Feb 26 2008The apartment is ideal for two people. It has everything you need. And the location [om East Village] is also quite good. Everything was perfect.
Dec 27 2007It is the second time we book an apartment with New York Habitat, and I hope to repeat!
The apartment was great, clean and beautiful, I wish it had been a little bit less noisy. The owner was very helpful and polite. We were very pleased with the apartment and the service provided.
Dec 26 2007I was thoroughly impressed with the apartment we rented in East Village, New York - it was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was in impeccable condition, and we couldn't have asked for a more convenient and vibrant location. The accommodation owner was a perfect host. He was very welcoming, and provided us with lots of information and was always willing to help if we came across any problems.
Oct 17 2007The apartment was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. Many thanks, I will certainly be recommending it to my friends.
All was good [with this New York rental], no problems whatsoever, would do again in a flash.
Jul 09 2007We thought the apartment was great, just what we were hoping for and met our expectations. It was just how it looked in the pictures. Bright, light and clean. The owner was very helpful when we arrived and also very flexible and relaxed.
Jun 15 2007We loved it and already have been recommending the apartment to friends. It had everything we needed and was nice and clean and tidy. The owner's contact, who gave us the keys and showed us around was very friendly and helpful and was nearby in case we needed anything (we didn't , but it was nice to know) . The apartment was exactly as described on your website which is also a good thing!
May 02 2007You're well organized at New York Habitat and the booking and payment side went smoothly, so we would also recommend your site too. This was the first time we've been to America - we loved NY and will definitely be returning. We would use your site again, and if there was just the two of us coming again we would use the same apartment.
Congratulations on a cool city and a very useful website!
The apartment was lovely, and everyone we dealt with -- in your office and at the apartment -- was friendly, helpful, and smart. Not only will I use your service again (and soon), I sent it to all my NYC friends, who were envious of our digs and amazed at how clever I was to have used a service like yours.
Apr 03 2007Dear Sirs, it was a very nice apartment and we enjoyed our stay.
Dec 21 2006Yes, it was quite noisy, but I guess it was the breath of the big apple...
Best regards and happy new year.
The apartment we rented in New York was truly fantastic and greatly added to our stay in the city. We shall certainly be contacting New York Habitat again for future stays in New York
May 22 2006Thank you
