New York Accommodation 2 Bedroom Rental in West Village (NY-15468)

This magnificent two bedroom townhouse vacation rental in Greenwich Village, Manhattan is found at 5th Avenue and West 12th Street. Built in the late 1800s, this historic New York home is comprised of 5 floors (considered 4 floors by Europeans), was renovated in 2010, restoring many of the original details such as exposed beams, facade, and staircase. With the renovation, the styles of the Italian Renaissance were used as inspiration for the updated space.

On every floor of the 5-story accommodation you will notice that antique furniture and decorations have been meticulously chosen and placed in each room. For instance in the main living room on the 2nd floor, the sitting alcove features Venetian glass walls and a gold-leaf detailed ceiling. One of three wood-burning fireplaces is also found on this level. In the master bedroom, on the top floor, another fireplace with a mantle that was transported from an Italian villa is featured. Above the mantle a large flat screen television hangs and the three windows in this room overlook the tree-lined street. There is also an antique tub in the bedroom, situated behind curtains underneath a skylight. From the master suite there is access to the very private planted terrace where you will find a café table. The 3rd floor has the second bedroom, which has a hallway of closets that leads you to the second full bathroom.
The European charm continues into the bathrooms and kitchen. The sink in the powder room on the 1st floor is in gleaming copper and in the bathroom on the 3rd floor find a brass bathtub with shower that was handcrafted by a Florentine craftsman and an antique marble sink imported from an Italian market. On the ground floor, home to the kitchen and laundry facilities for the apartment, notice marble details galore! The floor features hand cut marble tiles, the counter tops are a beautiful classic black and white marble, and at one end there is a large Tuscan farmhouse-style sink. An old-world inspired modern oven and gas range adds to the character of the space by keeping with the antique allure but providing functionality.
Another of the many fantastic details of the two bedroom vacation rental is the outdoor terrace found off of the 1st floor office. Notice the paved stone surface whose former owner was the King of England! This private space has a dining table for 4 over which a perfectly weathered iron chandelier hangs, providing light even after the sun goes down.

Please note that a few closets in the house will be locked and inaccessible.

Off the quiet street on which the townhouse sits find yourself in the heart of the West Village. Originally the home of "la vie bohème" and the Beat movement of NYC, the West Village is now home to endless streets of restaurants, bars, and upscale boutiques as well as some academic institutions such as The New School and New York University. If you are looking for a great traditional American meal try Commerce on Commerce Street. This cul-de-sac located restaurant has become famous for having the best roast chicken in the city - something that should surely not be missed. For more casual dining head to Greenwich Ave, just around the block from the house. All along this stretch are tons of other restaurants and bars with shops scattered in between. If you are looking to enjoy the outdoors, there are a few parks and squares in the area that can provide an oasis from the city. About two blocks east is Union Square, well-known for its farmer's market held year-round. 0.4 miles (640 meters) south of the townhouse is Washington Square Park, a popular meeting place in New York City. This park features an arch whose significance is to celebrate the centennial of George Washington's inauguration as the First President of the United States.

While there is so much to do in this neighborhood, you may also wish to explore other ones as well. To do this there are a number of subway stations in the area. At the 14 Street / 6 Avenue Station there is access on the F, L, and M trains, and a block away at the 14 Street / 7 Avenue Station you can catch the 1, 2, or 3 trains. At the 14 Street / Broadway : Union Square Station there is service on the 4, 5, 6, and L trains, and at the West 4 Street / 6 Avenue Station the A, B, C, D, E, F, and M trains are available.
